I have heard that late ovulation can cause a decrease in egg quality. I have also read somewhere (sorry, can't remember where) that by taking fertility drugs, they can help you to ovulate earlier in your cycle, thereby improving egg quality. Did your doctor mention this at all to you? Sorry I don't have any real answers for you but hopefully someone else will.

I just realized this was posted under alternative remedies, so if you're looking for something natural, maybe you want to try royal jelly? I was a late ovulator (approximately cd30) but for the two months I was on royal jelly, I o'd on cd 20 and cd23 in two consecutive cycles.
P.S. You may want to ask your doctor before taking it and don't take it if you have an allergy to bee pollen.

I have actually had 2 cycles of clomid, one at 50mg, I o'ed on day 23, got pg, then m/c the second cycle was 100mg, I o'ed on cd 20, again got pg, and am now in the process of m/c again. My re says that my next step is Clomid 150mg then on to letrozole.
I have a little weariness about the whole poor egg quality thing, since I o'ed on cd 27 with my son, and had no complications and he is perfect.
I too was concerned about the late ovulation thing. i did some web searching and the jury is really out on this one. It seems it could result in poorer quality, but doesn't have to... there are many women who have conceived perfectly heatlhy babies with no complications with late ovulations. One woman posted on fertility friend that she conceived and had a healthy baby & pregnancy during a 90-day cycle! There doesn't seem to be a consistent relationship of timing of ovulation to the quality of an egg.
Sorry I don't have more info (didn't save the links), just wanted to give you some hope about the late ovulation thing. I am currently using d-chiro inositol, cinnamon. I never used to menstruate at all until i tried those remedies. Now I'm having 45-60 day cycles (but the flow is light). I believe we all have some insulin-reaction problem, even if it doesn't show up on blood tests.
You might want to give a "smart-carb" diet a try for 3 months or so to see if it helps you...South beach or zone-type diets I think are healthiest. (no refined carbs, but beans, whole grains and fruit are ok!) I'm going to try to dig up the will power to see if it helps my cycles become heavier and more frequent.
Good luck, Clarissa
Thanks for the info on Royal Jelly too...will look that up!
