I have both APC Resistane (which is a blood clotting disorder) and PCOS and was wondering if any other cysters out ther have these problems too and what, if any, medications they are on.
APC Resistance runs in my family. I do not have it (Thank God), but both of my sisters do/did. My father has it, my neice and nephew have it (the children of my youngest sister).
My youngest sister had several strokes at a very young age and also died at a very young age, that is when we discovered APC Resistance is in our family.
I believe my living sister may also have PCOS, but she is not interested in persuing a dx.
My youngest sis was taking coumadin to keep her blood thin and I am not sure if she was taking anything else. I do know that it is very dangerous for women with APC Resistance to take hormones, my neice will not be able to use bcp's when she is older and my sis will not be able to do hormone replacement therapy. Smoking is also a very dangerous activity with APC Resistance.
So please protect your health. I don't mean to preach to you and I am afraid I didn't really answer any questions for you.
I would definitely seek a doctor's opinion (of any meds that are prescribed for PCOS) that has knowledge about APC Resistance because most don't know what I am talking about when I mention it.

I'm starting to wonder if I may have something like this, my mom had a blood clot that gave her a myocardial infarction, they pumped her full of something that dissolved it, and I read that clotting disorders go hand in hand with pcos.
So would you suggest taking a baby aspirin every day, especially while TTCing? I have no blood pressure or heart problems so I don't see where it can hurt..?

I read it in the book "Screaming to be Heard" by Vliet, a book about women and hormonal connections to health and well being, it is one of the most recommended books on the market for women, written by a wonderful lady doc who started out as a psychiatrist but after pointing too many women back to their regular docs for issues that were hormonal related, became a women's doctor. It is full of so much helpful information!
