I have been on Metformin for almost a month, up to 1500mg for the past five days. For the last week or so, I have absolutely NO appetite. I have to practically force myself to eat just so I can take more Metformin with my meal! I haven't eaten lunch in days.
Now, the fattie in me finds this really bizarre as I usually want to eat everything in sight! So, does anyone else have no appetite? Does it go away eventually?

Hey criticalpanda, I have the same issue. The weird thing is, I definitely get low blood sugar and moody, but there is just nothing that I want to eat. The other bad symptom is that when I do want to eat, 9 times out of 10 I am craving some kind of sweets. Before I started taking Metformin, I really didn't care for sweets at all and avoided them. I'm not happy about this and I also don't seem to be losing any weight. Just feel vaguely crappy most of the time. And the wild hairs on my face and chin have gotten worse lately. Yesterday I found a new skin tag on my leg. I had never had one before. Totally confused.
Yes that's very normal. I was like that when I took 1500mgs in the begging but now I can eat .There are days when I don't want too. It's great cause I hope this make me lose some weight. My doc said it takes around two months to start to notice.I have only been taking it for a month and half.

I've just started taking metformin last Friday (4 days ago) and I found that my appetite is half of what it used to be. I'm currently taking 500mg of met and will be increasing that soon. I used to eat my meals and then still be hungry and found myself eating all day!! In the last couple of days I've had to actally stop and think about whether or not I have eaten. I also fill up quicker and feel sick if I have eaten too much - even if it's one or two mouthfuls. Eating junk is also making me feel sick and has been a great deterant!!
