My Mood: Points: 2,420.16 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,420.16 | melissa~ we saw a heartbeat on one of ours on a wed and the heartbeat was gone by the next monday. I was hopeful after we saw a heartbeat that at least one of them might make it but it wasn't to be. I lost them both.
peebles~ sounds like you have a great RE and at least he is able to listen to your concerns and let you go through some testing which will hopefully help ease some of your stress and fears about becoming pregnant again.
smrturtle~ i know what you mean about not really wanting to tell a lot of people. i didn't tell anyone but my mom i was pregnant but did tell a few people about the m/c. Once you tell people you have no control over who they choose to tell. Most people just don't know what to say and I think it makes for an awkwardness in some ways between you and the other person.
amanda~ i can understand how upsetting your friends comments are. i think generally speaking most people really mean well but they just can't understand. i have been thinking and wondering about what is the right thing to say? what do i really want people to say to me? do i want them to say anything at all? what would i have said if it happened to someone else?

Melissa- yes I was so happy to have found this doc he came highly recommended it took me 3 months to get in to see him at first but now whenever I have a question he answers right away...
IRL means In Real Life.
HSG is the hysterosalpingogram (sp?) It is the dye test where they inject radiocative dye and take an x-ray to make sure your tubes are clear
SHG- sonohystogram is basically an u/s where they fill your uterus with saline and use a transvag u/s to make sure you have no obstructions, in my caase they wanted to be sure the m/c was complete and no tissue was left behind the first one I had did show leftover tissue so 10 days later I had another one and it was clear it is a standard procedure at my Re's when you have a loss.

My Mood: Points: 2,420.16 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,420.16 | I go back on thursday to see my RE for a two week post D&C check-up. I'm not sure what kind of test he will do. My bleeding had stopped until today and now I have some slight pain and bleeding. Just when I thought it was safe to take off the pads. Yuck.
After my next cycle, whenever that is, I have to have a 3-d ultrasound to check my uterus for a septum. I have a slight bicorniate uterus on my transvaginal u/s. My RE doesn't think it is enough for concern but wants to rule out a septum since I lost this pregnancy. Other than that he didn't mention any further testing at this point. He actually said he had ruled out a number of other problems by the fact that I got pregnant at all with first line fertility treatment. But now I just worry I have some other problem that is worse. I get pregnant but can't stay pregnant. Or what if the same drugs don't work the next time. Or I have some other medical problem that I don't even now about. Or on and on, the things I can think up... I could very well drive myself nuts.
melissa~ i see you were successful with the 5mg femara. me too. i tried 2.5 but it did nothing for me and then the 5mg I had 2 follies for two months. I charted on the third round and kazam it worked. i hope it works again.

Juno-I feel the same way you do, I can get pg (even though it is with IVF) but I can't stay that way. that is why I felt so strongly about the testing. why should I have to go through another loss before it sends a red flag up? they told me normally they do any testing until the 3rd loss. They were all set for me to have my 2nd FET and if it worked that would be pg #3, but then Re goes on to say that since I had 2 losses it would up my chances for a third. Maybe all will be well but then again... it could be just like the rest. I wasn't willing to take the chance.

Points: 2,216.46 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,216.46 | Hi Ladies. Mind if I join you? I am waiting for this process to be over. I was due 4/5 but started bleeding 8/10. On 8/12 I had an u/s that showed no pg. I bled for 6 days then it stopped. On 8/14 I had a beta (81) then on 8/16 by beta was 160. Then on 8/19 it was 350. They were concerned about this so I got two more betas on 8/22 and then yesterday but the one yesterday came back at 850. My OB wants me to go in for an u/s so I have it scheduled for this Thursday. I don't really know why. What exactly is it going to show? I think I may call my RE and see if he wants to do the SHG. I think that would be more relevant than a reg u/s.
This is so difficult because I thought it would just be over after the six days of bleeding. I'm sorry for all your losses. Those of you going in for testing, I hope you get some answers.

My Mood: Points: 9,510.89 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 9,510.89 | Juno - I was on 5mg from the start, so I don't know if 2.5 would have worked. I had no response to clomid, did a cycle of Femara and got two Follies, but a BFN and also I didn't ovulate until day 22. Dr thought it took too long for ovulation, so I did a cycle with Follistim and a Trigger. Did shots for 3 weeks to find the right dose. Had 6 Follies and a BFN and then had to take a month off because I overstimulated and had ovarian cysts. Decided to go back to Femara even if it takes a week longer. Last time was one follie, but it was the right one for a BFP! My fear is going back to Femara and for some reason it not working this time. Amanda & Jennifer - It's my understanding that it takes a while for your brain to register that you're not pregnant anymore. They haven't done any betas on me throughout this process. I have to go once a week for 4 weeks starting on Friday to make sure it goes down. I opted to go to a Quest lab for the bloodwork rather than my RE's office b/c I think it will be easier emotionally as well as easier on my schedule (my RE is 25 minutes in the opposite direction of my office and does blood and u/s at 7:30am). I'm going to call today to find out what my other follow up is supposed to be. I was pretty foggy the day of the D&C.

My Mood: Points: 29,339.42 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 29,339.42 | melissa- I guess what got me through is that I really wanted to be a mom and I did not want to give up on my dream. I had 2 losses and then got pg with my son shortly after my second loss. Honestly I was a complete mess for my first trimester ok the whole pregnancy.... It is tough but you will find the strength again to try. Everyone is different in their grieving process and should take as much time as they need to and get as much support as they can. With my recent loss... It has been really hard but I just keep going. I am on the dec/jan/feb TTC again thread, everyone is welcome when you are ready to travel that path again. TTC after a loss is also different and we started the thread because we just did not feel comfortable on the TTC boards. (((HUGS))) just take it one day at a time and try not to blame yourself or ask why too much.

My Mood: Points: 2,420.16 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,420.16 | jennifer~ welcome. i am sorry you are having to go through all the blood work and having to wonder about what's going on with your body.
melissa~ i o'd on day 17 with my last round of femara. it was later than my RE thought i would according to my u/s on cd12. if i had not been charting i would have missed it. i am so scared it won't work again but my RE said it should work the same. although i am glad femara gives my 2 follies, and i was so excited about the twins, i am so scared to have another multiple pregnancy. my RE felt there might have been some circulation issues caused by the multiple pregnancy that contributed to my m/c but who knows.
peebles~ i think you are smart to push for testing. if there are tests that can help you find the answers you need then you should be able to have them. if you find out one thing new that you didn't know before then it is worth it.

My Mood: Points: 18,159.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 18,159.00 | I just don't want to have to wait to ttc again. I wonder what they will say about how long before they will let me try again.
I am getting 2 shots and go for the first one tomorrow. Not super happy about this. Not to mention I haven't been feeling well. Since I started bleeding on Saturday I haven't been able to eat anything without ending up on the toilet 10 minutes later (TMI sorry)
Then as soon as I ovulated I started having a hard time breathing...like I have to yawn to get enough air sometimes. It hasn't went away and is actually getting worse. I will talk to dr. tomorrow about this. I don't feel well at all and don't even want to think about what the shots are going to make me feel like.
I had plans to go out on Friday night and was so looking forward to keeping my mind off of things so I hope I feel ok enough to still go.

We have been TTC #2 since last October so it is so disappointing to think I will have to wait 3 months to try again. But it looks like my body is taking it's time to get through this so I guess I just have to wait it out. I don't want to do anything to jeapordize my chances in the future.
I have been spotting since yesterday but it has been dark brown. I keep anticipating that I am going to start bleeding heavy with alot of pain. I don't know if that will happen or not. This is so frustrating because I just don't know what to expect.
I go in for another beta tomorrow and my u/s. I go back to the OB on Friday.
