Many hypo patients do feel better on Armour, but some feel better on Synthroid. Most docs will tell you that taking T3 isn't necessary because the body converts T4 to T3. Many docs will also tell you that T3 meds aren't as stable as T4, and that there is too much inconsistency between Armour pills, and will resist prescribing it.
However, there are many people who do not convert well, so the additional T3 is necessary. Have you had recent tests for your free T4 and free T3? That along with how you feel should be the determining factor.
Here is a link to an article that might help give you info to take to your doc to try and convince him/her to prescribe Armour: http://thyroid.about.com/cs/hashimotos/a/tedfriedman_2.htm
Also, here is a link to the Armour website "Find a Doc Near You" page to help you find a doc who does prescribe it: http://www.armourthyroid.com/locate.html
Good luck!
