interesting article... Kate,
Thank you, that is an interesting article. I have noticed that I eat practically the same breakfast every morning before work. I have 1/4 cup of Nature's choice egg substitute with a tiny bit of cheddar in it and either 1/2 cup oatmeal or 1 cup cheerios and I usually drink one mug of coffee with my breakfast.
I don't get a break to eat lunch until about 6 hours later and my blood sugar is usually between 80-95 before lunch, which is pretty perfect for me.
However, on the weekends I eat the same breakfast at the same time and cannot make it to lunch without a snack because my blood sugar drops into the 60's and 50's. The only difference is if I am working on a paper at the computer or some other work I have brought home I tend to keep filling my coffee cup and usually drink the whole pot.
Perhaps the extra coffee aides my digestion to the point where my breakfast is not with me as long as on workdays? It will be interesting to see if they can isolate what is lowering the blood sugar- or the element in coffee that decreases risk.
Has anyone else had a similiar experience with coffee? (I put very little creamer and splenda in my coffee)
