Default Article made my week!

Did anyone else check out the Swedish study posted on the site that shows that women with pcos have "late blooming ovaries" and that due to the imbalance may hit their reproductive peak later on? I was so happy when I read this article, since my husband and I started trying 3 months ago we feel like its a race against the clock. I always had very irregular/ no periods as a teen, then went on bc pills but since I got off them at 35 yo my period has been super regular, every 29 days...just wondering if anyone out there has experienced something similar over 35 or gotten pregnant naturally after 35? DOn't want to put too much hope in that article, but we were both so excited to finally see someting positive about pcos!

I have heard many stories of women who weren't able to get pregnant during their peak reproductive years, then were surprised to find themselves pregnant at an advanced age. One example is a thin cyster co-worker who had gone through a couple of rounds of clomid in her early 30's with no success. After that she and her husband gave up, but then at age 37 she was shocked to find out she was pregnant! I also have a friend who's parents concieved him at age 43, even though they weren't able to concieve during their 20's and 30's. Don't know if PCOS was a factor there, but it makes me wonder. So I think there's definitely something behind this study. I just hope it applies to me! Good luck!

Thanks for the response and those two encouraging stories you heard about. Its just that my husband and I want to get pregnant so badly, and its frightening for us to think we're starting so late in the game when this could take years! I'm trying to relax, and just trust that this will happen, maybe not along the timeline we want it to (NOW!) but sometime in the next few years. Good luck to you too...have you been trying for a long time? We have appt with fertility doc May 15, we're looking forward to it, maybe he can give us some direction what to do, it would be great if it could happen naturally but we don't want to waste time.

I'm 31 and have been trying for the last 18 months. I spent nearly a year of that time trying to get a thyroid condition under control, and now I've been on Met for about 6 months. I recently had two ovulatory cycles but no BFP, and my Drs. like "thats no big deal, its normal for it to take up to a year". Of course thats not what I wanted to hear. Things have been going so slowly that I feel like I'll be dealing with this for many years to come. Especially since we are hoping to have two, and I didn't want to have them to close together. Oh well, I guess there's nothing more I can do than get our timing right and just be patient.

We spend so much of our lives trying NOT to get pregnant, so when the time comes that we want to get pregnant, we expect it to happen right away. Guess it doesn't work that way.
