I don't touch the stuff, and Owen won't be either. No aspartame, no Splenda, none of it. I don't care what the bigwigs say. I don't believe the stuff is good for us.

Aspartame gives me migraines, so I rarely have it. I'll use splenda in desserts, but that's it. There haven't been any real studies on it. It's made by adding chlorine, and my water filter at home filters OUT chlorine - I'm assuming for a reason. So I limit it.

Jasho, I just wonder how smart it is to put chlorine into my body through splenda when my water filter at home filters it out so it DOESN'T get into my body. Weird trade-offs we have to make!

We are one of the first in our area to get water from the water plant, so when they dump in the chlorine our bathwater smells like a pool. Chlorine just isn't on the top of my list of things to avoid, I guess. Diabetes and lung problems seem to be the top two things affecting people in my family, so avoiding sugar is more top on my list.
most water filters remove chlorine simply to improve the taste of the water.

I use Splenda AND sugar sparingly. Fruit is a big dessert at our house!

DH has a thing about fruit ONLY being eaten on an empty stomach and being allowed to digest before any more food is eaten, so fruit is more of a breakfast food in our home for DH and an entire lunch for me. DD eats fruit anytime she wants it. When DH goes on Fit For Life he eats tons of fruit, but lately he has been eating junk a lot. We rarely do dessert of any kind. Growing up we just didn't have dessert unless it was a really special occassion or if it was summer. Then we would have strawberries and cream (with tons of sugar, lol) or ice cream. I don't think DH's family had dessert much either, but they are big on it now.
Some people do just hate the taste of chlorine, so it makes sense they would filter it out for that reason. We've just gotten used to it.
