Exclamation Ask yourself this?...

(Forgive me for spelling errors) I have a very important question to ask the panel of women here. In my attempts to gain a better knowledge of PCOS its been my conclusion that PCOS is not a "condition" but rather a "symptom" of something bigger. What that may be is questionable depending on whom you ask. I for one have very little trust in doctors anymore when I experienced one trying to steer me away from a more holistic approach to treatment. Why?..well for one they wont make money off of the natural methods used so they try to scare you telling you its not tested or FDA aproved treatment and its risky..(gee ya dont think the synthetic drugs Im on now aren't dangerous?) Another reason is they dont want you "well" or you wont need thier drugs anymore so they in turn keep you sick and needy. I did my research which had me all over the internet and beyond and found that it has various symptoms and no two women are alike in this. Which is the basis for why the medical field shys away from doing more research. Its not a "one size fits all". But across the board I found it has a lot to do with hormone in balance but what causes the hormone in balance to begin with?..Doing the process of elmination I found that many of the symptoms from hair loss/gain to cysts are a direct result from Adreanal fatigue which is when the Adreanal gland is made to do double time because the liver and kidneys are weakened or gunked up. The Adreanal glad is the central navigation to our hormone processing and its balance is critical to the function of the body to do as its made to do. Okay, this explains what tipped the scale now which hormone is off kilter?. To find out for sure which hormone is out of whack you must first do a saliva test to find out which hormone needs to be assisted in rebalancing. This is where many doctors get ugly or simply wont do this test saying its not needed for a blood test is standard procedure but what they dont tell you is that it wont give you a clear reading for each hormone level. Why?..because testing all hormone levels is not included in the blood work. When this test (saliva) is done it will show you precisely which hormone needs to be treated and then your able to reverse the "condition". Instead the only "standard" remark you'll hear is a doctor telling you to loose weight, join a gym, go on a diet..as if those worked!..many of you have gone this route with little to no success and like me know the heartache of failure. I never thought something so simple as a saliva test could mean the difference of whether I had hair on my head or if I didnt. Most doctors and endocronlogist always told me.."get use to it".."go buy rogaine" (rogaine is linked to cancer and they promote it?) and the list of lame excuses went on. Frankly the saliva test sounds just too easy but in fact its just that. Ive started a more holistic approach to my treatment and want off of Metformin for good. I dont want to be dependent to a drug anymore. I spoke with a holistic therapy specialist and made the decision to first do a full body detox of my liver, kidney, lymphatic system and colon along with blood then I will have the saliva test ran and move toward possibly using bio identical hormone cream to treat the hormone in balance and see if this theroy I have is correct.

I would be interested in finding out your results. Especially if the detox of those systems & organs helps. I too think this is something a lot of dr's use to keep you coming back every few weeks getting pills, bloodwork, tests, etc.

I found relief once I had surgery which regulated my hormone levels, cycles & symptoms. In seeing other specialists, I think that a lot of dr's are reluctant to do something that caused such improvement you may not be back (or atleast for several years)! So I am with you on that & hope that this works for you!

I have been to a couple of doctors who were pretty much the opposite of what you describe here. They said basically "you're young, you'll get over it, its nothing to worry about, there's a wide range of normal, you want normal cycles? use BCP, etc. etc. etc." Then I finally found a doctor who was willing to listen and understand that something was wrong, and she started trying to figure out what was wrong. There might be some other underlying problem, but if the treatment she proposed works, I'm not going to complain - at least I'm being treated! I'm no longer just sitting on the back burner with my body getting wierder and wierder with no answers.
I can see where you're coming from, and have seen some doctors who like to run the expensive tests just to rack up the bill, and went to different doctors.
I hope you're able to get some answers with the holistic therapist, and find a natural treatment that works for you! Wishing you the best of luck!
