Hey, it's meeee again...just to get a conversation started, I'll throw in one of my pet peeves. What do you do when your friends talk s**t about your other friends to you, behind their backs? Everybody always complains to me about other people, and sometimes I just wanna yell at them, "YEAH WELL SHE'S MY FRIEND SO LAY OFF!!!!" But then I'd lose my other friends. How would you handle this???? (And anyone else who shows up, help me too!!)

Sorry, I guess this turned into a rant. But what's your opinion?

In response to your question, I have never really had to deal with things like that but I do agree with what Lottedah is saying. I think she said it real well. I'm sorry those kinds of problems are happing for you with your friends.

Thanx guys. I should try that, but I'm afraid I'd get too mad at them. Generally I try to keep my mouth shut but it's not easy. Another problem I have is when "friends" talk about other friends behind their back, saying really mean hateful things. I guess I just have particularly outspoken friends, but...

I can't think of another conversation starter (I just came back from work: two hours of trying to teach small rambunctious children the beauty of "do re mi fa sol la ti do.") So I will come back when I have more energy.

Also, wish me luck everyone. I just auditioned for the school's fall play, against some really really good actors. So hope with all your might that I get cast as something, anything. (I'd really like one of the two female leads, but anything goes.)

Well, I just finished the auditions today, so all I can do is cross my fingers and hope...Sara, the play is "Arsenic and Old Lace," which if you don't know about it, is about the funniest screwball comedy ever written. Basically, it's about these two dear, sweet old ladies who give all these charities to the community, and one of them is poisoning lonely old people. So their nephew Mortimer wants to pin the bodies on his brother Teddy, who's a nut case and thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt. Then in comes the other nephew Jonathan, who's a real bloodthirsty criminal, and his henchman and plastic surgeon, Dr. Einstein. (If this makes any sense at all, it shouldn't.)

But anyway, I'd really like to be one of the old ladies, because there's no way they'd cast me as Mortimer's love interest, I am so not the type. So we'll see...Lottedah, thanx so much for your advice. Yesterday and today in the audition, I tried to read like I was the character, and I think it was good. (I haven't done much acting at this level before, it's all been little community plays and stuff.) I'll keep you posted...The cast list goes up tomorrow morning.:p

Update: Well, as it turns out I didn't get cast in the play.

I guess none of y'all saw my previous post soon enough to send me good vibes. (But you would have sent me vibes, right?)

But it's not the end of the world...looking at the cast list, some of my really good friends got good parts, and I'll be a techie anyway, and help keep the production running smoothly. (My planned pitch to friends and family to go see the play: "Yeah, it's a really funny play. I'm not actually acting in it, I'm a techie which means that if all goes well you won't actually see me, but..."

) Besides, all the techies get to go out and have their own special curtain call--with everybody wrapped up in caution tape. Hey, it's a tradition. So I'm excited, alot of my friends will be in it, and it's just going to be a blast.

Lottedah: DID YOU GET THE JOB??????

Oh, I'm sure you will do fine. Whoever says that HS is a major obstacle to career? I think the main reason I didn't get the part (vibes aside) is that the Drama director still doesn't know me all that well. I'm hoping that by doing tech I'll have a little more of a chance when we do one-acts later this year. Until then...TECHIE PRIDE!!!!!!

Well, in this case weight had nothing to do with it...my best friend weighs alot more than I do, and she got cast as Elaine (the love interest). So this is just about the well-established juniors and seniors vs. the upstart sophomore. Oh well...at least tech will get me all buff and strong, doing rigging and carrying stuff. (Our theater is absolutely awesome, it's got a 96-channel lighting system and lots of rigging, and an adjustable orchestra pit/extra seating/stage extension option--the works!) So I'll be getting exercise as well as working on the play. I'm happy.

Sorry about the bragging, but the theater is like our drama department's baby, it just got finished being built last year.

I know absolutely nothing about computers...everybody tells me I should download AOL but I'm paranoid, last time I downloaded software from the Internet it totally messed up my computer...so you can PM me whenever...I will get it eventually, I promise.

Well...I'm kinda afraid of heights and I lose my balance easily, so I don't think I'll be on the catwalks anytime soon. I'm mainly psyched about doing rigging...it'll get me all buff and stuff. (Hey that rhymes!) Plus, actually building the set is going to be a blast.

I really am on about this techie pride thing, aren't I?

I've even recruited a couple of my friends who knew nothing about the Drama Department beforehand. I am such a little drama nerd...but it's okay, I have lots of fun with it, and at least there's free food.

I still want to know about that job. And Sara, this is your post, what's going on with you? I want to hear all about everything...
