Sure nuff...there's a graphic with a woman and all of her diabetes meds...AND a med for PCOS (I'd never heard of it.)
It's just a birth control pill -- the one I take, actually.

Thank you for this article. Just showed it to my mom.
My doctor was surprised when my cholesterol came back low... he told me that's not a common occurence.. that alot of PCOS'ers have the high cholesterol.. and he does use Zocor..
Very interesting article.. and just shows that they've still got a while to go to figure out if this is hormone, bad genes, or what...
Thank you - I've bookmarked this thread, and I'll read all the articles when I'm finished this semester of grad studies! I didn't realize that cholesterol was so important to know about (in context of having PCOS), so I'm going to ask my doctor about it, too.

I'm sorry - I didn't read all the posts in this thread. But I wanted to say that Neocon is a birth control pill. I was on the generic for a few months. My doc asked me to stop taking it when I stopped getting a period on it. I'm having some tests done and will hopefully start another pill in a month or so.
This was a very informative article. Thanks, Kat.
My mom has diabetes, but I've never heard her mention having high BP or cholesterol. I don't think I've ever been tested for cholesterol. But since I'm pushing 40, I suppose that will come. I do believe I have a very good blood pressure, at least for now. I'm working so hard to try and NOT get diabetes, but yet somedays it seems futile. Depressing. But it is good to know about this research. There is hope for the future generations.

You really should have routine cholesterol tests...especially with pcos. I've never had high blood pressure, but developed extremely high cholesterol in kindergarten.

Thanks for posting!
Reminds me I really need to get my bloodwork done so I can look at where my cholesterol is, especially since my bp is borderline!
