Attention: Internet and SoulCysters Privacy Issues
The following additions have just been made to SoulCysters. They've JUST been added, so I haven't had a chance to really see how all of them work, but here you go:
HIDE YOUR PROFILE:
In your EDIT PROFILE menu, you can now choose who can see your profile: Visitors to the site, Resistered Members only, "Buddies" only. (I'm assuming this works, but you might want to test to make sure)
MULTIPLE ACCOUNT PREVENTION
These mods have just been added. They use an IP check, so I'm hoping they don't cause problems with preventing people on dial-up accounts. If there are major problems, I'm going to have to remove them. How do they work? Dunno yet. But if you can make heads or tails of these links, have at it. It looks like greek to me. (In other words, I can't anwer any questions about these 2 mods.)
PRIMARY PRIVACY PRECAUTIONS - if you read NOTHING else - READ THIS:
Even with the changes, NONE of this will protect your privacy if you share personal information on the net. Google is a smart cookie, and can get into even 'secure' sites.
Here are some additional precautions to take:
Things like 'real' first and last names, Home addresses, Workplace names and addresses, Phone numbers, etc, should NEVER be posted online.
Best to use things like:
- Maiden names, first or last initials
- PO Boxes (when involved in buying/selling/swaps), or a service like EFLS
- Skype (when a phone number is needed)
- MSN, YAHOO messengers when you want to 'talk' (using their voice service)
- NEVER give out work info (ie City/state, and company name (unless it's a chain)
- If you have a blog or a website, register your domain using the 'privacy' option (or else your home/billing address will be available for the world to see)
- Email addy's JUST for your 'web' stuff (ie set up a designated Yahoo or Gmail account for all subscriptions, websites, message boards, etc, and don't use your real name.)
If you want to use your 'real name' online, be SURE to use the other items. If you want to trade personal information or send gifts/baby clothes/etc, use your gut...and try to stick with cysters who've been around the site for a long time.

I'm not a newbie but need some info. I read where you are able to 'Hide' your profile above. How in the world do you do it? I've been tryng to figure this out for weeks. Please, can you give me info to walk me through the process to HIDE my profile?
