Hey girls...
I think today is the first day i've really looked into the Aussie section of SC lol! How lazy is that! lol Always feels good to share PCOS issues with a fellow Aussie.
Anywayyy...I'm Leonie,27yo from the Port Stephens area,NSW.
I've recently been knuckling down & concentrating on this horrible PCOS.I was diagnosed about 5yrs ago & to be honest, have been very lazy with it all.I kick myself though coz if i had been more strict with it (exercise, meds etc) then i would probably have had my 2nd or even 3rd baby by now!
I have a beautiful 6yo daughter who will be 7yo in about 3wks.I had absolutely no problems conceiving her & had a perfect & eazy breezy pregnancy & natural labour.I have been PG two other times.A terminated pregnancy at 19yo & a MC in 2007 at 7-8wks.
Ever since the MC the DH & i have been so afraid to really TTC.But i think its about time we really started on that & try to put our MC fears aside & concentrate on TTC #2!
I have been overweight since about 2003 & would ideally love to lose about 30kilos.
My friend down the road is 13wks pregnant & she has PCOS also. Her DD is 6yo & they have been TTC #2 for about 5 years & have had 3 MC's.
I am not sure of what meds she has taken in the past or what she is on now but i do know that she started doing Bowen Therapy about 6 months ago & BAM! fell pregnant! She is also overweight...
I am so willing to try Bowen Therapy once i lose at least 10 or so kilos & start the journey of TTC #2.
I had all my bloodwork done about 2wks ago to check up on everything - (thyroid,IR etc etc) & i am perfectly healthy, well apart from this damn PCOS lol...i havent had an ultrasound in about 2yrs to check up on the cysts,so i have no idea how they are going...
My Dr put me on 850mg Metformin twice a day (started 14.09.09) but i am only taking it once a day to get used to it,this week i will move up to two a day.He also prescribed me 15mg Reductil once a day.Awesome! coz i didnt have to ask for it...i tried Reductil about 4yrs ago to lose a few kilos...at the time i hadnt had AF in about a year.I did a month of Reductil & lost about 5kilos (no exercise or anything!) and sure enough from that 5kilos,my AF kicked back in & has never left! Even though i only did a month (was so expensive!)...it started my AF & i was happy with that

I have put on a few kilos since then & AF is never a 28 day cycle, more like a 42 day cycle but recently was a 85 day cycle!!!
That was enough for me to get my butt into gear & change my lifestyle!
I took my first Reductil yesterday,i wanted to start it while the DH was home just in case i had any side effects. (DH is in the RAAF & goes away alot)...so far,no side effects!
I am not a big eater anyway, but i do snack on lil things throughout the day.But yesterday i had 2 crumpets about 5mins after the Reductil...im glad i had that meal coz for the rest of the day i didnt feel like eating!
DH made me a lovely salad roll for lunch & i struggled to get through even half of it! I just drank water, juice all day & felt fine!
For dinner DH made up a nice caesar salad, bbq chook & some other salads & didnt want any, which sucks coz thats one of my fave meals! lol
I had a small bowl of vanilla icecream at about 9pm & i even struggled to get through that.
This morning i made sure to have a big brekky (3 slices of toast) at the same time i took my Reductil coz i know i wont want anything for most of the day...Reductil is expensive but it does its job!
I found a chemist that sells it for $79 instead of the $98 at my local chemist. Also i can claim alot of it back on my MBF...WOO!
I also went & bought Maca Power (maca root powder) capsules last week & will start on one a day tomorrow.DH read up on it (he reads up on everything! lol) & he is now taking up to two a day also! lol
I am more then willing now to start on my TTC #2 journey & weight loss...i want to be healthier & ready to have my future babies
Are there any other ladies out there in Australia or world wide that are on the same meds?
I am also looking to see a Naturopath very soon, looking forward to that!
ok well thats my recent news...thanks for reading girls!
