Arrow AUSTIN, TX: PCOS doc wanted

Hello, Cysters! I'm looking for a PCOS-friendly doc in the Austin area. He or she could be an RE, ob-gyn, or internist--I don't really care about the specialty as much as I do that the recommended doc be knowledgeable and up-to-date about the syndrome and its treatment, including achieving and keeping a pregnancy. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Default Thanks...

I did check the listings for Texas, but unfortunately all those docs are several hours' drive away. Texas is a BIG state! You could drive all day and not get out of it.

If anyone has any rec's for docs in the Austin area, I'd appreciate it! Thanks so much.

This site is for reproductive endicrinoligists (sp) and Infertility specialists. Just type in your state and it will bring up a list od docs in your state. You never know if one of them could help. It was a helpful link for me. You might want to try it out. Good luck!! Bibi

I've had one appointment with Dr. Blevins in Austin...he's a regular endocrinologist. So far, I have been very very pleased with him. He is knowledgable about PCOS and willing to try insulin sensitizing drugs like Metformin and Avandia. He also seems like a really nice guy. Unfortunately, there is usually a couple month's wait for an appointment!

Default Thanks, you two!

Thanks, Bibi and stlouiseb, for your replies!

Regarding Dr. Blevins, his is one of the names I'm coming across again and again. Stlouiseb, do you know about the Austin PCOS organization's website? I just found it last night at http://www.austinpcos.org and it offers a lot of helpful info, including message boards. One thing I didn't realize until getting an email reply back from the org's president is that it's NOT part of the PCOSA group.

Thanks, again for your help, gals.
