Wow, thanks for the link! I am taking AvandaMet 2x's a day. I've had great results with it thus far. I got pg. with dd#1 the first cycle...Now, 5 yrs. later I got AF after taking it for 2 weeks. It is the only thing that works well for me. Scary though!!!

I say the news yesterday. Thank goodness I chose to stick with the Metformin and not the Avandia. Please Cysters talk with your docs if your taking this medication.

Eerie, as I had to stop taking avandamet last week because of a dangerous level of fluid retention and loss of energy that was starting to look like congestive heart failure. I was checked out by a heart specialist and CHF was ruled out but I had to get off the avandamet to reverse the edema before it turned into CHF, so I went back on metformin. In just a week I am already seeing the edema going away and my energy level is increasing.
I feel a bit spooked at this new report on avandia so soon after having a potentially heart related problem caused by it.

Is there something else that can be taken that will do the same thing? The ONLY thing that helps me is Avandamet. I've tried Gluc and Met...they don't do a whole lot for me like Avandamet does.
So, are there any other meds. that I can take like Avandia but w/o the seriously dangerous side effects? It concers me as my mother passed away last year from heart failure.

I called my doctor's office today about Avandia. The nurse I spoke to told me that the only way the doctor would change my meds is if I came in and saw her. I can't afford an appointment just to tell the doctor that maybe I should be on a different med. I agree with the other ladies on this thread, that Avandia has been one of the only meds that works with my system. I've tried the rest, and my body has rejected every one!

I also called my dr. I am due for a yearly in July. So, she said to come in then and we'll discuss it. So, I'll continue to take it until then. Before I started taking it, I had gone 4mo. w/o a period and my stomach was so bloated and my moods were out of control. I don't want that again. Hopefully another month and a half on it will be ok.
When I do go to the dr., I'll talk to her about going on Actos and Met.
