I'm hearing so many negative things about the FDA warning for Avandia concerning weight gain, vision loss, etc. My dr. just added avandia to my list along with Lantus. I just got 3 months worth from my prescription plan. Help! I'm scared. Is there anyone here who's been on avandia that has positive results?
Have you had any of the side effects. Like weight Gain, vision loss?? How long have you been on the drug??
Any information you can give would be appreciated. I'm anxious now and just want to hear some positive feedback.

Hi Becky,
I had been on Met for 10 years now, wow can't believe its been that long. dr added avandia about 5 years ago. I personally have had more weight gain then normal. Still no periods without taking provera. The only thing the avandia helps is with my sugar levels. My sugars were still a bit high with met alone. however, now I have lost 26 lbs with the help of phenmenterine so my dr plans to take me off avandia as the weight continues to come off & my sugar levels remain low ...Still no period though...It is frustrating. Once I come off avandia completely & if my sugars don't stabalize with met alone she is going to put me on byetta...I know we are constant guinea pigs with this wonderful PCOS we have. If you are really unsure of Avandia, ask your doctor about other alternatives to avandia. Make it clear that you are very concerned with the recent data on the drug...Good luck..Ultimately we are in charge....Take care & good luck!

Thanks sara,
We'll see, so far its helped my bloodsugar as well. But I have this horrid Neuropathy on my toes and feet lately thats been keeping me from almost exercising as usual. But I've been making myself take the dogs out, so thats some exercise. I don't know, we shall say. Thanks so much for the input!

What is the FDA saying? I'm on this drug and I haven't gained but, I haven't lost either.
