Avandia Working!!!!!

I was on the metformin 2000mg. for 2 years. I haven't had a period on my own since I was on bcp. I was getting very frustrated. I had been to a specialist and I still owe them about $1500 in lab bills, and I really didn't learn anything new, except that I don't have any terrible diseases. I went back to my obgyn and she suggested I try the Avandia 4 mg. since I was having no luck at all on the met. I have been on Avandia going on two months. I had my first period last week and I was thrilled. Before that period I had taken prometrium to start. When I started on the Avandia by itself, it was to the date 28-day cycle. I couldn't believe it. I haven't been normal ever except on bcp. I'm praying that my cycles will be normal each month now, and I'm hoping for that first miracle child!!!! Just to let you know, I'm not obese. I am 5'9 and weigh about 135. I thought I was the only one out there that was a thin cyster until visiting this site. Believe me when I say I have every other symptom there is to have though. It can get pretty depressing. Just glad to know there are others out there like you I can share my stories with. Just remember to never give up, there is always hope!!! I would also love to hear your stories too!

congratulations!! I'm so happy for you. i too am on avandia 4mg per day. But with another drug: provasyn (a prolactin inhibitor). After taking these two, i menstruated. Metformin didn't work for me either. So far i was suppose to expect my period yesterday it was my 28th day. But still no AF....

I wonder if i'm gonna get my period again....

I am due to start af in about another week. I hope and pray I start again. I just want to be somewhat normal. Don't get anxious though. I have a friend on 4mg. Avandia and sometimes her cycles are a little longer, like 31 to 36 days, so maybe you will start soon! Just don't give up hope. Be sure and keep me updated.

I'll be sure and keep you posted. If I'm right, I should start sometime during the week of Jan. 3rd. It might be as late as the 7th. My first cycle with the prometrium was 28 days, but my cycle with just the Avandia was actually 31 days. So keep your fingers crossed!!! I'll talk to you soon!

FWIW during the rare times my cycles have been "regular," I have always had 35 day cycles. Never had a 28 day cycle on my own, only with BCPs. A normal cycle can range 21 to 35 days, though, so just because the meds are working doesn't mean you will have a 28 day cycle - your body might cycle longer or shorter, if things are working right.

31 days is good!

Actually, last month , i had this liquidy transluscent slimy stuff coming out of my vagina. I assume that i might be ovulating. But now, it didnt' came. So i might not be having my AF anytime soon

Don't worry, that might not mean anything. Before I ever started the pill I had a cycle. It wasn't normal or anything, but I did start every month (sometimes twice a month). I wasn't ovulating, but I was still having a period. I'm not sure I've ever ovulated really. My doctor did the day 21 blood draw when I was on the clomid and she said I never ovulated. She said she wanted my number to be around 22 and it was like .2 (not even close). Anyway keep your head up, and keep me posted!
