Avanza/Mirtazapine (Remeron)

I would appreciate anyone sharing there experiences with avanza. The drug is probably under a dif name outside Australia.

I'm taking 60mg of avanza right now (I'm an aussie!) after starting on 15mg. The first three days when I wasnt asleep I was stumbling around the house like a zombie but I stuck with it because I'd heard so much good about it. And good is an understatement! I did put on a little weight- for about the first month I was continually hungry- but that eased up and I lost all but 2kg of what I had put on (about 6kg I recall!). Within three months I have become a different person! My moods have lifted and I feel as my brain has been re-energised! I'm coping so much better mentally. The fog is gone and I dont tire out mentally the way I used to. Another thing I'm ecstatic about- I was struggling with social phobia but am no longer afraid to answer the door or telephone. I still find social stuff a little hard but there's no fear. And the rest they say is practice.
You prolly dont have all that but I thought I'd mention it. Oh! And I have been getting the best sleep! I overslept and had wierd dreams at first but they were worth it for the blissful slumber I now enjoy! I just noticed you're on zoloft! I was on that before I tried avanza but I was on it for five years and the doctors said it had stopped working. I got a rash and was feeling flat and unresponsive so the change to avanza.

The drug name in the states is Remeron. I edited you subject so the others might see it. You might get a few more answers with that

I took it one time, and only one time. About 10 min. after I took it I became "drunk" staggered to bed and slept for 12 hrs., got up for work, struggled to stay awake, came home and went back to bed. Slept another 12 hrs. Scared me since I was an insomniac. My Dr. wanted me to try and give it time. He really thought it would be wonderful for my problems, but I couldn't take it and work and had a new job so really wasn't able to give it a fair chance. I have heard that it can cause weight gain and is also used for that purpose with some people who need to gain a bit.
