Avatars/icons

To get an avatar (the picture beneathyour username, click on User CP on the top of the page. Then you click Edit Avatar. There you can choose from loads of avatars that's already here for you, you can upload one from your computer or you can put in the img url of an avtar you have stored elsewhere online.

Avatars cannot be larger than 100x100 pixels. If you upload them directly from your computer, they cannot be larger than 19.5kB. (If you host them on a different server, the kB's won't be a probem here, but it will still have to be less than 100x100 in pixels).

To host avatars online(or other images for that matter), there's plenty of pages you can use. For example:

To find avatars online, there's plenty of places to go.
- http://www.avatarity.com/
- http://www.hotavatars.com/
-Go to www.livejournal.com and search for those who have "avatars" in their interest, they tend to make avatars/icons and let other people use them) http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?int=avatars
-Go to www.xanga.com and search for icon/avatar blogrings. http://www.xanga.com/search.aspx?type=groups&term=avatars

Remember that when you find an avatar you like; downlload it and upload to your own server. Don't steal other people's bandwith by hotlinking!

Okay, I'm still getting this message...
"That image is too large. The maximum dimensions are 75 by 75 pixels."
That's even with linking to my photobucket rather than taking it off of my computer. It's a very small file, less than 3kb and 100x86 in size.

Hey there.
Okay, I've been away from this forum for months it seems, so I have no idea when you posted your problem.
But I willanswer anyway

If you get "That image is too large. The maximum dimensions are 75 by 75 pixels," it means that your image is either too high, or too wide to fit. And, as you said, your image is 100x86. Therefore, it is 25pixels too high, and 11 pixles too wide.

You can change that by click the edit button above the image in your photobucet account, and resize it. 75% should do

Sorry if you posted your question like ages ago. I see that you do hav an avatar now, though

No. My image is smaller than the 100x100 that everyone else can have and much smaller than the max kb size. Like I said in my post...

So I really have no idea why I can't upload a 100x100 pic. I get the error that my pic has to be no bigger than 75x75.

I have a picture as my avatar. If i look at my user CP its there but it doesnt show up on any of my posts i just get the pcos one

Me too! I've had three different ones that show up in user CP correctly, but I continue to get the PCOS one. Why?

Sorry for the delay in answer, but the holldays was... Well, family stuff.

So, for the avatars

I assume you all tried to upload it to SC? I have no idea why all of your avatars wont show. If it is less that 19kb, and less than 100x100 it is supposed to work!

Sometimes, however, things just doesn't work, without me being able to explain why.
Can you all try to upload the pictures elsewhere?

I suggest photobucket.com or tinypic.com

I uploaded an image to use as an avatar and it doesn't appear to be working... I hosted it on http://www.imageshack.us and you CAN see it in the Edit Avatar section of my control panel, however I'm still posting with the PCOS ribbon.

Suggestions?

It seems it is the Ribbon causing the problem as same people with the avater are having the same problem.

Have you tried deleting the ribbon by selecting no avater, then logging in and out and then perhaps logging in a few hours later to try and upload your new one....

Just a thought but I find sometimes in forums this can work!

I just cannot seem to get this avatar to work! I've tried image shack, but I don't have a link that begins with www, its http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/630...51small5sm.jpg
The file is small enough, but nothing. I can't get my own file (that's small enough) to load either. Can anyone give me any other pointers, please?

Also, it does show up on my User CP, but on my posts, it's the PCOS ribbon.

Has anyone figured this one out yet? The same avatar works on other message boards but, not this one.
