I'm sorry for your loss. It can take weeks to actually have the miscarriage. I found out about my first pregnancy being unviable at 4 or 5 weeks along and didn't pass anything until 12 weeks. That was the hardest few weeks of my life (at the time). I've now been through 2 more losses including a 2nd trimester loss which required a D & E after 3 days of failed labour induction. Anyways I went off on a tangent there, sorry. I hope things start quickly for you.

I am not sure what you mean about losing patience…It is your body working naturally

I had a missed abortion once and Dr. decided to perform a curettage cause I did not want to wait longer, but I guess each doctor and case is different.

As previous poster said it can take quite long until something happens by itself

I am sorry you are going thru this [/font]

Meggy, could you ask for Misoprostol?? This drug is helped to induce miscarriage. I used it with my 8 week pregnancy, and within 6 hours I had almost everything out. I bleed pretty good for about a week and half.

I'm sorry for you loss, we are all here for support!

meggy, I'm sorry it is taking longer then you had hoped. I personally think if you can wait and allow it to occur naturally, it is better for you in the long run, because a d&c could cause damage to your cervix and cause problems with carrying future pregnancies.

You could ask about taking that drug that Merc took to bring things on quicker?

I hate the wait its so sad to know that once was growing inside you is now gone yet its still there. With this last m/c i opted for the D&C. i treid to pass my other 2 on my own and ended up in alot of pain bleeding alot and in the ER. I just couldn ot do that again. My thoughts are with you in this time

Meggy-- I'm so sorry for your loss. I just had a missed miscarriage at 8.5 weeks. I also stopped the progesterone supps and was waiting and waiting. I waited almost three weeks and NOTHING. I started taking antibiotics after two weeks because I got nervous I might develop an infection. Finally I took Mistoprostol vaginally last Wednesday and Thursday night and I started bleeding. I thought I had passed everything but last weekend I was in severe pain (cramping and back pain) so I knew something was wrong. On Monday I went in and on the u/s they could see a lot of tissue and blood backed up in the uterus. So I ended up having to do a D & C. It was a blessing to be free of the pain, but I was pretty bummed because I really wanted to avoid an operation.

I would definitely try the meds before moving on to the D & C. The meds are effective for most woman... just not for me. Best of luck.

thanks for all ur responses ladies.......im still waiting-2nd week over......dunno , it seems like life is such a cruel joke- first u take meds to get the baby in u.....then u take other meds to get it out of u?!......i am getting random cramps- nothing more....i wud hav probably taken the cytotec/misoprostol.......but dh is very against taking it coz it has horrible s/e- u vomit like crazy , cramp/bleed like mad and basically close to die for a day....thats wat happened to my sis as well.....so she and dh want me to avoid it.......and so , here i am , waiting.....which is ok coz i can handle it emotionally-just my inherent impatience creeps up from time to time...

Meggy--Have you ever taken this medication before? I had to use cytotec to induce my labor with my first son, who was born still. IT did cause me to start my labor process as I was 22 weeks, but it didn't make me vomit or anything. Everyone is different and you might now have the same s/e's as your sister did. I just think that while it is important to listen to your family, it is ultimately your body and your decision. What do YOU want to do?

I also never vomited on cytotec but it didn't induce my labor either and after 3 days they finally did a d and c but that was because I was in my 2nd trimester and could not leave the hospital until everything was out.
