I am fairly new to PCOS only diganosed in late Nov 2007. However my Endo totally gets me. My biggest problem right now is insulin resistance she jumped right on it and persribed Met. She is willing to see me every month if I need the extra motivation and diabetes runs in her family so she isn't all preachy, you know "lose weight or DIE!" she explains it and all the risk. (don't judge the doctor by the building, looks like a run down clinic from the outside but she is great)

Hi Angela,
May I ask, how long did it take for you to get in to see her? I'm currently experiencing horrible problems just trying to get into see a doctor.
I live in the East Valley but I'll drive for a good doc!
Is she a general endo? I am currently seeing someone at St. Joe's, but I am not too happy with her. I am asking cause I have to see the endo for other hormonal problems, so I am like a medical nightmare.
Is she the only endo? or is it a group practice?
Thanks for the info!

She is pretty new to the valley I believe, so I was able to see her in a couple of weeks. I do believe there are other endo's in the practice, and she is NOT a infertility endo. Again by looking at the parking lot and building you would not know that great doctors are inside. They also have a nutritionist on site as well as a blood lab. There are several doctors at this location and it might look like there are 20 people waiting for the same appt. but I have never spent more than 10 minutes waiting to be seen. Also the nurses are super nice and everyone looks like they enjoy their job.
Hey RNtobe, who are you seeing at St. Joe's? That's where I was supposed to go and I can't even get an appointment due to their hassles and forgetful paperwork...which is why I was really happy to see Angela's recommendation.
SarahKate I am seeing Dr. Mishra at Endocrinology Assoc. Its on like 3rd Ave and Osborn. While I think she is a great doctor, I am not too impressed with her bed side manner to say. The whole clinic actually bothers me. She ordered a blood test that I had to do at Sonora Lab and I ended up waiting there for 2 1/2 hours to have my blood drawn cause no one could get ahold of her to ask what the test was she wanted done. Apparently she was in the office, but for whatever reason could not be reached. I was really annoyed. And then the next time I went back and I waited for 30 min in the waiting room then an hour in the patient examination room and only saw her for 5 minutes. I actually went back and saw her today and she was like, well I am not sure what's wrong so lets re-test in a year or so. All in all I am now going to see someone at the Mayo Clinic. I am just tired of being passed from doctor to doctor. I honeslty can't say I would recommend her, but she is a good doctor just hard to get along with. I am just not that impressed. I am not sure if this really helps or not.
I would definelty try Angela's doctor. She sounds much better.
Good Luck!

Thank you RNtobe. I was trying to get in to see a Dr. Knecht at St. Joe's. I have had nothing but trouble from the get go. I cannot get them to even make an appointment and I've had my files faxed over several times but they magically lose them. It's now been three weeks that I've played cat and mouse with them and I'm officially done. I think I'll be calling Dr. Kang's office.
Thank you again for your help and I hope your Mayo visit gives you some much needed answers!!!
I would highly recommend that you stay as far away from St. Joe's as possible.
Here's my reason why. Sorry it's so long.
I was sent to the DORM clinic at St. Joe's last year during my pregnancy because my local OB thought I was developing pre-eclampsia-I never did develop it. I never saw the same doctor and often I would have to wait an hour or two past my scheduled appointment time to see a doctor. Because I live almost two hours away it was decided that I would be induced. I went in at 38 weeks for the induction. About an hour after I was given the first round of pitocin the nurse came running in and told me that my baby's heartrate started to drop. The doctor came in and told me that they had to do a c-section. The anesthiologist did not do the epidural properly because he needed a longer needle. The nurse didn't give him a chance to get a longer needle and she started to put the catheter in. I started convulsing and I told the nurse that I could feel the catheter. She told me that I was just nervous and I wasn't feeling anything. That's the last thing I remember. I woke up in recovery saying "my baby, my baby, where's my baby?" DH said that as soon as the doctor started cutting me I started screaming. They had to give me a cocktail of three powerful narcotics to knock me out completely. My baby was born at 3:16pm and I wasn't able to hold her until 8 hours later. I have since found out that I did not need to be rushed into a c-section and that my daughter's heartrate was dropping because she was entering the birth canal and it was almost time for me to start pushing.
