Ladies,
My nephew was born via planned c-section today (she had pre-eclampsia with her first). He was just over 5lbs and 18 1/2 inches long. He is being transported to a different hospital in SC as they do not have the equipment to treat him. His blood sugar has suddenly gone very low and his breathing is strange almost panting like.
Please pray that the doctors will have the wisdom to know how to best treat him and for my SIL, as I am not sure if she will be able to go with him and how that will effect her. Her parents are there with them as they live next door, but this is killing my mom as she really wants to be there.
Thanks ladies!

Sending up prayers right now Sara. Advice your SIL to demand being transferred to the same hospital right away!

My mother just called me. My brother just called this morning. The doctors have now determined that Caleb has an enlarged heart and have inserted a pic line to make the constant blood draws easier.
My SIL is besider herself as she is 30 minutes away. Please pray that a bed opens up today so that she can be transferred or the doctor's determine her to be well enough to discharge.
Ladies,
This is probably one of the hardest things that I have had to deal with. I have read so many of your stories and felt the heartache that you went through, but now that it is happening to our family. It's really hard.
I really want to travel to SC, but I just feel like I can't do much good right now.
Thanks for your prayers!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I just spoke with my brother and they were getting ready to move Jessica to the same hospital as Caleb. The doctor did an EKG this morning and said that his heart was good. He said that it was the way that the x-ray's were looked at that caused the scare of the enlarged heart. They are hoping to wean him off the IV to increase his bottle feedings. He has a central unit that runs from his elbow to his heart and that is pumping extra glucose into his system. They are hoping that once he is stable off the IV and his blood sugar stays stable one the line is taken out, he will be able to go home. You all have been amazing, thanks for the prayers!

Thank you all for your prayers!
I spoke with My SIL yesterday (Sunday) and she said that he is doing better. He is off of the IV and they are monitoring his pic line every 6 hours and if it stays stable above 50 they will drop the amount by 1cc. He should be able to come home in about a week. SIL said that the dr's told her that he was basically starving, the placenta was growing faster than he could get nutrients (I hope that sounds right, cuz I think that is what she said!). So praise God that the c-section was scheduled when it was!
Thanks again for all your prayers! I'll keep you posted!

Thanks all for your prayers. The latest update is that the IV is out and he is bottle feeding very nicely. They also took the pic line out that was sending glucose to his body as his sugar levels stablized. The doctor said that if he maintains good levels he could come home on Thursday the 21st! Praise God!
