Question Bach flowers, anxiety and TTC

Hi ladies

I wanted to share that all of you anxious ladies, you are not alone, I am part of the gang !!

I had always been a bit shy but my anxiety has developed since the death of my father until now. TTC is pretty stressful and has increased the frequency of my anxiety, so I have been pretty worried since I do not want to feel anxious but I also cannot take ( and I do not want to neither ) drugs that may interfere with TTC or cause terrible withdrawal effects.

I was put in Zoloft 2 months ago, but I was not feeling well on it so I decided to quit it, I did not even reached my full dose, 25 mg was enough to make me feel like a zombie and even more anxious. Then, I read in anxiety threads about the withdrawal effects and I was so scared I decided not to try any drugs. Try to find something natural.

I have been searching since, and I found hope in the flower essences called Bach flowers. They are supposed to be PG safe and work well on similar cases of anxiety.

Has anyone of you tried them ? does it work ?

I am desperated for a solution that would not interfere with TTC...

This is the web page with info : www.bachcentre.com

I have used these for a while, and I really see the benefit. I use Rescue Remedy when I am particularly anxious, as well as some of the individual essences. It's definitely worth it for you to try. You won't get all zoned out like on medication (I was on Zoloft for 4 years) but it's enough to take the edge off and help you to help yourself refocus. Does that make sense?

Let me know if you have any specific questions about the formulas!!

Rescue remedy is amazing. I have used it here and there to help with anxiety and panic attacks and it always seemed to do the trick. I also use it when I am having stage fright. I used to wonder if it had a placebo effect, until I saw a friend of mine give it to her 2 year old son who was having a major temper tantrum. The calming effect on him was undeniable. Pretty cool stuff.

Recently I have taken an interest in using some of the other bach flower remedies (they have them at the whole foods at my house). I think when I wean myself off of this low dose of lexapro, I will go that route.

Good luck!

No s/e other than the drowsiness some people report. It won't interfere with any other meds, because it is a true homeopathic meaning it contains tiny, tiny, tiny fractions of the essence of a medicinal plant. As in... they waived a star of Bethlehem flower over the distillation vat.

That said... I use it. I can't imagine why or how it works, but DH and I have been grieving the loss of a pet we had raised from the age of 36 hours (and she was lost due to a veterinary error during her spay, not our fault). Anyway, since I work at the shelter where the spay was performed, I was literally dreading going back to work. I hit the Bach's rescue remedy every couple hours the first day or two and then gradually less and it really did calm me.

Well... so far so good. I had been using the rescue remedy for a while, with good results ( although please remember it takes time to work... it is not like artificial drugs which can work in a couple of hours or less.... ) now I am on a combination of Larch, Rock Rose, Mimulus.

It seems to help since I was having every day little attack episodes and since I began the bach flowers, I have had none. I assume that also the yoga must be helping, since all kind of exercises which involve breathing techniques, are helpful.

It has also helped me to use something I read in the web : realize the fears that accompany an attack are completely surreal. For example, I had this sensation like I am choking. That would trigger the panic attack. Now, as soon as I feel it, I start realizing that it is irrational to choke, specially if I have nothing in my mounth !! that there is no real reason to feel like this, etc. and that calms me down and avoids the panic episode.

I guess there is nothing that can cure 100% and with no side effects. For me, since I am ttcing, and also with the bad experience I had, I sincerely do not want to try Zoloft or other drugs again. It may take longer, but I will go for the natural solutions....

Letīs hope I get back here soon and tell you I have finally conquered my anxiety !!

A roommate of mine in college got me started on these. I love them! I have used them off and on for years. Unfortunately, I went through a bad bout of panic attacks and didn't have the money to buy anything. But they helped a lot with different issues I've had over the years. And no side effects!
And my roommate explained it a bit for me--we can use natural herbs to assist with physical symptoms, such as ginger root for nausea, so why not flowers? Flowers can assist with emotional symptoms the way herbs assist with physical.
