After many years of off and on Met. I am back at it again. I recently miscarried in Feb and with the depression and everything else went off all my meds. I was never on Met long enough to see if it would help me achive AF on my own.
So while I am waiting to TTC again I decided what better to do is to get back on track and start again. The side effects are always what gets me off Met. I get GI problems from day one.... but I am going to make it through this no matter what. I want my body to be as normal as possible and if I have to attach a toliet to my back till then, I am willing to do so. LOL!
I'm just looking for support so I can continue to stay on my Met and get my body functioning again. I have been on it since Saturday and today got the lovely MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!!!! to the bathroom I shall go.

Ahhhhhh I know this story and share it with you, but cannot begin to fathom your loss as my body has refused to confirm that for me. But this damn met and it's side effects... I'm re-trying for the 4th time in 5 years and even my first bout of it for 14 months straight never produced AF so I'm not sure why I'm willing to suffer the head cold symptoms, headaches, nausea, desired-attached-toilet, and fatigue it causes me. Sure they are worse the few days after starting or increasing, but how about daily headaches at 4pm that make it so I can't work or drive? I'm just wondering how long one suffers through all this to get that greener grass... as doctors seem to want to be promising... I've not let myself step off the 1500mg I worked up to and have been at for 13 days. So, stick to it, because I am and I think we equally hate this.

Thanks for the replies!!! I am going crazy already only 5 days into the met again, I am going to make it through it though damnit! I know the Met can help in great deals and I am determined to stick it out.
My poor hubby has delt with me telling him daily that I don't feel good, I'm sure that is annoying in itself. I decided to start at 850mg and work my way up.
BTW, big mistake yesterday I went to my girl friends and we got the most greasy pizza I have ever seen. BIG MISTAKE!!! HUGE!!!

Oh gosh, yeah I find I am making lots of big mistakes such as that - it's so hard to go out or even do anything right now!!! You stick to it, I stick to it. And it better help us both.

Hey ladies - I know I have posted this before on antother met. discussion topic, but just incase you hadn't heard -- there is an extended release pill of metformin. I tried met. 3 times in the past and always gave up because of the sickness it caused.
Now I'm going on my 4th month of the XR formula and I have made it up to 1500mg a day!!!!! At first I had some side effects (especialy when eating high fat/high card foods) but it actually has worn off! I are pizza last night (only 2pcs to be good - I am trying to lose weight) and I had no side effects.
The effects were minimal each time I increased my does - but still a millon times better then standard met. -- I am so tankfull for the extended release on my sensitive tummy : )

DO try the XR!!! but don;t listing to my *****in as I'm *****in same amount on XR as my first 10 mos on non-XR. I'm gonna wish for great 2 slice of pizza experience for tomorrow night as its a family planned thing... but dang, just been up for 2 hours now with completely unhappy insides following salad and turkey dinner. uhhh. hello, thought that was healthy!!

hopefully when I increase my doses the side effects will be minimal like they where the first time. good luck to all of us lol. oh strapping a toilet to your backside would certainly give a new meaning to port-a-potty. keep smiling, you can do it!
