Default back hair..

does anyone else have back hair.. i still cant bring myself to talk about it openly with my bf.. i find it frustrating.. he doesn't understand.. (he's not really a hairy guy himself) i want to go to prom so bad this year but i can't because of my back hair.. i've never shaved it off so i know it's fine.. but it's all black/dark brown.. and he's like just shave it .. he doesn't understand that once you shave..it comes back darker and pricklier (if that's a word).. so for the first time since we started dating about a year ago.. i let him touch my back bare.. and it brought me to tears.. and he goes why are you crying.. and i said because i shouldn't be feeling this way.. it took me almost 15 months for me to allow you to touch my back.. and he goes well sometimes the way i deal with things is to see it and touch it.. he knew about it way back when we first started dating but i didn't know that he had seen my back (i guess i had on a tank top and he seen since it kind of goes up to my neck) i just can't figure out why he didn't say anything till here recently.. i find that i can't be open about my condition with him.. i love him dearly but there's just somethings that i kind of want him to find out on his own.. like if he looks it up on the internet and then asks questions i think that would be so much easier on the both of us.. i just don't know if he's comfortable with it or not.. he says he is.. but im not comfortable in my own skin.. the more i realize this is a rant/hair situation/guys point of view kind of post.. i really didn't know where to put it..

please help me

I have a problem with back hair too. Its very fine but very dark. I've been pretty much leaving it alone and my DH has never said anything about it. I know what you mean about prom dresses....I was worried about the same thing when I was looking for a wedding dresses. Its so hard to find gowns these days that don't show off your back. I have really long hair on my head so I just wore it down to cover up. I really hope you don't miss out on your prom because of this. Have you considered bleaching the hair if you can't find a dress with enough coverage? Or, check out some salons and get it waxed. Your BF sounds like a really great guy too. I hope you find something that works for you! good luck!!!

Have you thought about getting it waxed? You can go to a salon and have it done there. I have very hairy legs and I used to get them waxed every six to eight weeks. I've gotten laser treatments for the past six months and that has helped a LOT.

Waxers are used to dealing with this sort of thing, I'm sure. I say, get waxed. You'll feel so much better!

I'm like that too...not a whole lot of hairs but they are dark brown/black and up against my fair skin they do stand out. I have high anxiety around people concerning my body so I would never let someone wax me. It took me 3 years to work up the strength to let someone do the laser on my chin...which grew back within a year...so I'm so disappointed. I would say if you don't have the strength to get a stranger to do the waxing , get with a close girlfriend, mom or aunt etc and let them know how you feel and if they can help you perform the waxing in the comfort of your own home.

I've had the same problem too....One day I was in the mirror and noticed the hair. As of now, I haven't done anything about it b/c I see other girls with the light hair on their backs too. Try waxing it....that way a professional is doing it. you can start to build a relationship with them, and be comfortable around them so they can was other places too when needed.

Are you on any drug treatments or an exercise/diet regimen? If you are talking about Prom, it means you must be relatively young. You have time on your side and should be trying to nip this before it gets out of hand.

The one thing that has gotten rid of my back hair is the bcp Diane (before being on Diane, I would wax). I'm also on Metformin. You could try Spironolactone specifically for the hair as well...

i was on spirolactone but i was also gaining weight.. plus i was on BCP too.. i'd have to go back to my doctor for this which is a 2 hour drive and i dont want to go through all them tests again.. i asked my local family doctor if he could prescribe it and he says since i've been off of it for so long that i'd have to have blood tests done to determine where my testosterone levels are and what mg dosage i should be on.. i don't want to go through that again.. i was 14 when i first got diagnosed.. and now being 18.. my life is just starting but i feel like im spinning my wheels in mud and getting nowhere because of this..

I know it can be a pain to go through all of those tests again, but it is worth it. If you have back hair now, it could get much worse for you later if your hormones remain untreated.

If you don't want to try medications again, you should focus on diet/exercise (after all, they are free! ).

Hair removal methods can only take you so far. If you aren't treating the issue at the hormone level, the hair will continue and probably worsen...

If I had this site at your age, I could have saved myself a lot of grief and kept my symptoms from worsening.

Think of it as investing in your future, literally. Spending a couple of hours here/there visiting your doctor to get you on a treatment plan now could save you a lot of trouble in the future...

Hugs hun, i have a lot of back hair, going down to the waist, across the shoulders and down the back of my arms, the way i deal with it is to shave it, or use a hair removal cream, its kind of like one of these things with pcos, you just need to think that if its not going to go away quickly which we all know its not then you just need to bite the bullet and go to a salon to wax it or shave it, its about courage i guess, i had years of anxiety over people seeing my hairy back, but now i get my hubby to shave it and im ok with it, dont let it ruin your life, there are millions of ladies in the same boat, take someone with you that knows how your feel for support. take care x

I had a huge patch of long, thin, dark hairs on my lower back. I didn't even know it was there until my sister saw me changing and pointed it out a few years ago! I have had electrolysis on it over the years and it's almost gone. But was very disappointing, I have fair skin and dark hair so I can't get away with having hair issues, it's noticeable.

I also have about 6 hairs on the back of my shoulders, 3 or so on each side that keep coming back. It seems like it never ends........

I never went to a salon to have mine waxed, it was usually my sister or mother who would do it for me at home. I used the Veet wax strips...
