Default bad acne

After a few months of my acne slightly improving I feel as though I've taken a backwards step......AGAIN. It is worse around my chin and jaw, but there are a few straying onto my checks. We are not talking small pimples here, but big red painful cysts

I started Met 3 weeks ago and have been thirsty and have just started spotting, all of which I am told are usual side effects. Is it normal for acne to get worse before it improves??

I know it is a few months away, but I am due to be bridesmaid for my cousins wedding in December and I have virtually given up hope of ever finding a cure for my acne and am now paranoid about having my hair up and loads of make up and still looking spotty and horrible...

Please, someone tell me it will improve??????

I feel like I've tried everything and 7 years on I am still suffering...

Burt's Bees regimine for acne skin is the only thing I've found that helps mine. I also get those large cysts. I haven't had one in over a month. Face even stayed clear through my period.
Here's my routine. It took some of the really bad ones a couple of weeks to heal but they haven't comeback.

In the shower, put the burt's bees citrus exfoliant on, rub that around with a pumice stone (lightly)
then wash that off
put on the burt's bees tomato soap...leave that on the entire shower
wash it off right before I get out
Immediately put on the burt's bees herbal blemish stick while my pores are still open (it will burn some)
brush my teeth and all that stuff
then put on some topical benzol peroxide on my chin and jaw
moisturize everthing but my chin and jaw with the burt's bees body lotion (I may start moisturizing this area soon to see how it does not that it's pretty clear)

use the clay tomato mask on occasion...I shoot for 1x week but usually forget to do it.

While my skin isn't perfect, I think it looks better than it ever did on numerous antibiotics or expensive cleansers.

You can order burts bees online and they are very reasonably priced. You can also find a list of stores near you that carry them from their website.

Thank you for your replies. I have heard Burt's Bees mentioned a few times on this site, but I have never seen or heard of any of the producst in the UK. Does anyone know of somewhere other than the web that sells them in the UK??

Default Skintactix & antibacterial soap

Hey there! I have had horrible cystic acne that is stubborn and keeps coming back in the same places. the best thing i have found is from Skintactix. I bought mine online. I use the glycolic cleanser and acne inhibitor--it's great. I also add a small drop of anti-bacterial hand soap to the cleanser to help kill the acne bacteria. I am sure to put xtra anti-b soap on any zits I pop--bad habit, i know.

anyway...it has really worked when nothing else would. There are other products that look great. I could not get them b/c some of them have chemicals not recommended for preg. and we are trying like crazy to get preg.

hope this helps!

Smile Burt's Bees

I work at a store called Harvest Drug and Gift...(really fun place to work) and we carry burt's bees products. I have used the blemish stick, but haven't tried all the other stuff mentioned above. If you can't find it anywhere, go online to check us out at www.harvestdrug.com I'm sure that we can ship pretty much anywhere. Hope this helps.

Thanks, it is good to know that I am not the only one.

It has started to show signs of settling down, but I am not sure whether it is because I have been on Met for a while, because I stopped using a night gel that the doc prescribed or because I've been swimming a few times. I guess it could be a mixture of all of them, but I am pleased that things are looking up. I just hope it continues.

I posted this on another thread, but I'll repost.

I use Prescriptives gel face wash for oily skin, the immediate matte toner and the day moisturizer with SPF for oily skin. At night I use the Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion. I also use a makeup that does not contain any talc- talc clogs your poors. It is colore science brand (google it, you can order online). I also try not to eat too much sugar, and I make sure I wash my face whenever it feels oily. Prescriptives also makes an acne serum, but I don't like it, it treats pimples you already have but doesn't seem to prevent them at all and it dries out your skin. I also exfolliate twice a week. Right now my skin is bad, but clearer than it's been in years, and I don't have any painful cystic pimples. I've been using this skincare regimine for about 6 weeks.

Also, one thing I noticed is that when I used the special acne serum, my acne got WORSE, not better. I think this serum brought impurities out of the skin, but it also caused pimples to form in order to get them out. So possibly your night gel had the same effect. Also, even though you have pimples or oily skin, that doesn't mean you don't need moisturizer. You should use both a day and night moisturizer that are water, not oil, based. Your day moisturizer should have sunscreen. These should help you clear up.
