Default Bad, Bad reaction to Provera, really could use some help here

Hi all,

I was put on a course of Provera for 12 days (last night was last dose, thank god!)after having an anovulatory period on December 4th, with spotting that is still continuing. I've had some pretty scary side effects and want to know if this has happened to anyone else. Here are my symptoms:

- extremely bloated, gained 8 pounds in 12 days, hoping to god it's only water weight
- very irritable and angry
-majorly depressed (couldn't get out of bed for 2 days)
- couldn't stop eating
- crying spells
- very, very tired
-anxiety
- pretty bad back pain
- CHILLS AND TEMPERATURE DROP <-- this happened last night and I was terrified, almost went to the ER. My temp dropped to 97.1, and my entire body went ice cold, I was shivering uncontrollably for about an hour, then it just went away and everything went back to normal.

Since last night was my last dose, I'm hoping these effects subside. The nurse at my RE office said I should expect a period in about 10-12 days. She asked why I was put on it, and I explained that my doctor had prescribed clomid, but now I'm not sure that I am ready to go on it yet because I wanted to lose more weight (I've lost about 25lbs, not incl. the 8 I've put on since I started taking these vile pills) She said that it's a shame that I wouldn't be taking the clomid and will have gone through all this basically for nothing, but aside from wanting to lose more, I'm really afraid to take anything else that's going to mess with my hormones. If this happens again (another anovulatory period) I cant go back on this (Provera) or Prometrium, which had even more frightening side effects in that I became very depressed and had suicidal thoughts that went away once I stopped taking that.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any advice? I could really use some help here.

wow. thanks for all the support and thoughts. My favorite symptom of PCOS is the isolation and the whole bit about having no-one-to-talk-to about this. This is my last post here.
