Default Bad breath and Met ?

I brush at least twice a day. I've even been flossing. Lately, my mom has asked if I wanted a mint or gum. I asked, Why, does my breath stink, and she said yes. I just finished w/ the dentist after over 1 and 1/2 years fixing my teeth and getting all the decay and stuff out. (was w/o dental for over 2 years) I have naturally bad teeth that I think has a lot to do w/ hereditary. Anyway, back to my question. I'm trying to figure out why I'm having bad breath so often. Since I got all the decay out, brush and floss, and even brush/scrape my tongue, how can I still have bad breath? Can Met cause it? It's the only thing I can think of that's different. My fiancé thinks it might be the fillings, but I don't think so. Any input would be great!

p.s. I’ve started using a mouth wash and so far I think it's helping some.

Can't wait to start WW again and loose the other 15lbs I gained with the last pregnancy and the 30lbs I still needed to lose with the first one.

Starlite- I don't know if I'll have an answer for you, but I do know that if you are on a diet where you are ketosing, that can give you bad breath. I haven't heard of met doing this, but I guess anything is possible. I hope you find the answer!

I know this sounds crazy but i use a plaque remover mouth wash before i brush and hubby says that stuff makes my breath stink and it is mint flavored ..it could be the mouth wash making your breath smell that way i was told it alters my breath as well.. although i thought it was minty *L*

Thanks for the replies!

What's so confusing is I haven't been doing anything different. And it started when I started taking Met. I haven't changed my diet, and I just started using mouth wash the other week. Well, I changed my diet a little. Just watching how much carbs and trying to ratio that w/ protein, enough so that the Met don't upset my stomach. I do drink a lot of milk, maybe that may do something combined w/ Met?

Ok so I would say that you should go to the doctor, I know that this sounds funny but you might have an upper respirtory infection. I know that sounds strange but my DH had really bad breath and I made him go see the DR and he had bronchitis. If you have an infection in your lungs or in your mouth it will cause bad breath even if you have no signs.

That is interesting Heady. I used to be very prone to bronchitis, got it every year if not twice until my teenage years. I might try seeing the doc. I just hate going to my gp. She's real nice and I really like her, but the last time I saw her I was put on Lexapro and stopped taking it - realized I wasn't depressed, just with the wrong man . She got upset with me for stopping meds before with out coming in first, so I know she'll be upset again. I'll just have to face it though, I was wrong to stop w/o talking to her. Thanks for the info!
