A fishy smell can be the sign of a bacterial infection. You need to check with your doctor and if that's what it is, you will both need to be treated.

I think the infections can come and go, or be worse at some times. I just read a magazine article about it. You should go to the doctor and see about it. At least they can tell you if it's anything serious or maybe they can explain what's going on.
Hey once before someone posted a ??? like this in the ttc forum and there were several women who said they experienced the same problem when the BD, I am also one of those women it only happens after we BD and usualy last a day or so, I have asked my Dr about it and she said it was nothing I had no infections or anything so your DH may be right. But to be safe you might ask your Dr. about it just to be safe you do not want any pesky infection but it probably isnt anything to worry about, you might ask this ??? in the ttc forum and see if anyone else has any answers Good Luck hth
I also had this happen to me. But since I have been on met it seems to have been better. Still there ,but alot better. Before I started taking met, I had a real bad smell down there and I was always itchy (on the outside between the inner thigh and the lips) sorry I know that may be TMI and it would stay wet there because of the extra hard washing. Of course being so itchy I used to rub extra hard while showering and it caused very dry flakey skin which was so uncomfortable. I don't know what it was/is but I still get itchy and a bit of a smell the dry flakey skin has gone away since taking met. I hope you find the answers you need. I would also like to know what this is caused from.
Do you guys use condoms? The reason I ask is because the one time my DH & I used one, I became very raw & sore- and I had that fishy smell for about 2 days. I went in & talked to my physician... she explained to me that a combination of a bacterial problem started combined with my sensitivity- now allergy to latex that it had caused MY smelling problem. That probably isn't the same in your case, but if you find yourself becoming raw & sore after sex & you guys use a condom, either switch to non-latex or try without for a while to see if that helps. Also, to get rid of some extra bacteria- you can overload on yogurt, it helps. One other thing I thought about- if you do not go to the bathroom after you guys have sex all of your fluids & his are just settling in there & that can cause a smell... so maybe try to go pee because the force will help push some of that out.
Sorry for the graphic details- but I guess we all go through it right? Hope this helps a little bit.

Ok, I am going to get really earthy here, probably TMI while I am at it.. but here goes. Once when I was in my early 20's I lived with two gay men for about three months. We were out cruising for guys and a carload of girls drove past and hollered out the window at all of us. One of the guys in our car yelled out the window "Tuna boat!" at the girls. I couldn't figure it out.... so I asked. He said that it was "commonly known" that when women had sex with men that they smelled fishy. So it was a common slang term within their community for sexually active (also promiscus) herero women.
I know that it happened to me too, and my late husband said that my scent would change when I was pregnant, so perhaps hormones make a difference too. HTH, and I hope that I didn't offend anyone, that was not my intention.
God bless you and yours
Deb
mikes julie - sounds very similar to my thing. i'll let you know if i find out what it is.
Jhawkfan83 - no, we don't use condoms. also, i do go to the bathroom, and it still smells - that's the weird thing about it. it's immediately afterwards that it smells. and this is only now and then - not every single time. weird, eh?
Hears The Water - takes a lot to offend me, so don't worry about tmi
that's what i'm thinking. maybe it's hormones.
i saw my RE today, and he said he couldn't see anything out of the ordinary (while he was doing my HSG), but i was sore when he swabbed my cervix.
once my bits are back to normal, and not covered in iodine, i'm going to see my obgyn and ask them to do some tests. it's probably a simple yeast type thing. if not, then it must be hormones or something to do with my husband's ph.
thanks for all your input, ladies! i really appreciate it

I asked my doctor and she said its just chemically related....and she said to put a bit of vinegar on toilet paper and just make a wipe...she said this should bring the chemicals back to straight :-)
