My DH and I recently started going to a Baptist church with our friends.. We have enjoyed the experience so much that we have not only decided to become members, but we are also being baptized together this Sunday.
I was wondering if anyone can give me some details of their experiences and if there is anything I need to do to prepare...
I am nervous but excited all at the same time.
Thanks!

I think usually you have to meet with a pastor to discuss when you got Saved. Then before the baptism you will be instructed to go into a dressing room right off from the baptismal. Be sure to bring a change of clothes to wear in the service after the baptism and something to pull your hair back with (hairband if your hair is long). They will give you a robe to wear over your clothes, so you can wear jeans and a Tshirt or whatever to get baptized in IF they give you the robe. Some churches don't do that, but most Baptist churches do I think. Usually the women are separated from the men, so you will come down to the baptismal from the opposite side of your DH. Someone will give you a clean white hankie to hold until you are in the water. Then you hand it to the pastor and he will put it over your mouth, so you won't take in any water. He will either hand the wet hankie back to you or toss it to the side (each pastor has his own way of doing things).
Congrats on getting baptized! Be sure if they allow photos taken that someone gets a shot of it. Also if the church does not provide it, you can buy a baptism certificate for your pastor to sign later (Christian bookstores sell them).
Jashobeam~ Thanks so much for the information. We did meet with the Pastor last Sunday and he told us to bring a change of clothes and towels. But I wanted to hear from others who have went through it..

I was baptized as a teenager, and other than what I posted, nothing else seemed to come up as far as how to prepare. You might want to ask on the Conservative Christian thread, as there are some Baptists on there, also
