Sadly Bare Escentuals did indeed break me out

I was told by some ladies on a skincare board that it was due to one of the "minerals" it contained... I want to say bismuth, or perhaps mica? I can't recall. Not all mineral makeups contain this ingredient though and many people love them, so if you don't like one brand shop around! I hear great things about Jane Iredale... that it has a lot more coverage and isn't as "glittery/shiney" as B.E. It's pricey though, and I'll just have to wait for better times for that!
You didn't mention its "sunscreen" claims, but please ladies be careful of any makeup that claims any sort of sun protection. When the FDA studies sunscreens for their spf rating (including makeup) they are applied at a rate that would equal between 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon of product on one's face. Now who really uses that much, especially of foundation? You're still probably getting
some protection, but probably not even half of what is stated on the bottle. Powders you would probably have to apply even
more product to get that spf, but no one really knows for sure as they are kind of uncharted territory. I definitely wouldn't rely on them alone, yet their minerals (especially iron oxide) can interfere with chemical sunscreen ingredients, making them less effective. Most makeups contain iron oxides and the like though, so it can be a losing battle. Plus to be truly effective, sunscreens must be reapplied often. I bite the bullet and go foundation free during the daylight hours, but I don't know what I would do if I had to appear "professional". They really need to come up with some better options for this!
DHC is wonderful though! I love their cleansing oil, which ironically made my face
less oily. Their "White" sunscreen is fabulous, but pricey if you apply it at the proper amount. It ends up being $25 for about two weeks worth of sunscreen with daily use (face&neck only)! It's so great though... very matte and didn't seem to break me out. You can find them online at
