Hello. I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago and have had absolutely no luck with my acne. Tried birth control, pro-active, and just about everything in the store. Went to the derm and what he perscribed did not work. I am to the point of just trying to hide the acne since I cannot get rid of it. I was wondering if anyone has used Bare Minerals, it seems a bit pricey but if it covers it up I don't care. I am tired of wearing my hair down to try to conceal it and I hate looking at myself in the mirror......Please help!! I don't want to spend the money if it's not going to work.
Thanks!
Andrea
i use that to cover my acne and it work but i am of a darker skin color and it just depends if u like to wear it light or heavy.i wear my light and it does the job.
I love love love the stuff. There is a post with info about the bare minerals a few posts down that I posted on today. Majority of the women who replied to it use the Bare Minerals. Everything they say in the infomertial (sp) is true!!! You can get either light or heavy coverage depending on how many "layers" you put on, and it doesn't look like you have layers on, no joke! It looks, and feels so natural. It doesn't slide off your face by mid day, it covers acne and scars just as well as any other makeup I have tried if not better. It seems to deflect the light so that it doesn't stand out so well as with other makeups etc. I could go on and on.
I've been using it for almost a year... before I even knew I had PCOS! Two years ago, at 27, I complained to my primary care doctor that I was tired of my acne, I mean how much longer would it last?! I was on BC and that didn't seem to make a difference. She prescribed Retin-A which only made my skin dry, read (although I used 30 SPF sunscreen), and breakout even more!
But last year, when I switched to Bare Minerals... WOW! I thought it looked nice, but I kept getting all these compliments on my complexion! I had heavy acne at like 11 and it never really went away, so I had never, NEVER, received a compliment on my complexion. People said my skin glowed and even asked if I was pregnant.
What I like the best is that it still looks good at the end of the day. And of all the "secondary symptoms": hisrtutism, hairloss, and acne, acne is the one with which I now battle the least. I also wash my face twice a day with St. Ives Medicated Scrub and in the summer blot my face with Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets.
I've been where you are- using my hair to hide my skin. Acne is really hard on self-esteem sometimes.
I've been using Bare Minerals for a few years. I have really bad acne and tried every liquid foundation out there before I started using mineral makeup. I really love it and it does give me a "glowy" complexion. I use the bisque "concealing mineral" first with a special concealer brush and put it on all the red spots. Then I buff on the foundation minerals. It does a really nice job. On days where I have a REALLY REALLY scary pimple I might put a dot of liquid concealer over the spot at the end. It will stay covered the whole day. You can wear the minerals very light or heavy and it doesn't irritate my skin. In pictures you can never tell I have acne, so I'll keep wearing it as long as they make it! I've figured out it looks the best if I make sure to use moisturizer in the morning and not apply it really heavily in areas that crease, like near my lips.

I too have used BM for the past three years on and off. I think it is truly much better for my complexion than a liquid base, although I still experiment (right now CoverGirl makes a great creamy Advanced Radiance With Glucosamine which looks fabulous and is only $9 for a little tub) BM is great for nights for me because it has an ethereal shine to it and makes you glow, but looks (on me) a bit too made up for the conservative office.
Many day spas use BM or other powder-based makeups and you can schedule an application of makeup usually for not more than $30. This is awesome because they will show you how to use everything and you can figure out what you need. Only one big caveat with BM and it is the TIME you must take to apply it (can't do it in traffic!) and the brushes are an added expense (although if you have only the Kabuki style brush you can wing the rest). Hope this adds to the informative posts above.

Just wanted to say thank you. I found a link in one of the posts that talked about free samples so I went ahead and ordered that to see if I would have the same "luck" as you have had.
THANK YOU!!! Anything is better than what I have been dealing with. And I would love nothing more than to be able to wear my hair up once!!!!!
I just wanted to post a GUESS WHAT!?! Bare Minerals is on QVC right now, and about an hour ago, I met the CEO, Leslie Blodgett! She's such a lovely woman, and truly cares about the 'clients' that use BE.
If you're near a TV, tune into QVC right now, for some good deals, or watch the 24hr replay clips online.
Today, they're launching a new Rare Minerals Blemish Therapy product for acne that is only at QVC. I use the all over Rare Mineral product, and it has totally changed my skin (for the MUCH better)

I use Bare Minerals, and I love it. Although I find that if my skin is dry or anything it tends to look powdery, so I exfoliate and moisturize before I put it on. It's good stuff, unfortunately, it's expensive! but worth the money.

I bought some Bare Minerals in January and use it every single day and it's only 1/3 of the way gone! This stuff lasts forever, so it definitely pays for itself in the long run. I'd say go for it! I was skeptical but it's definitely worth it!
