Default Basic question about BCP's...Sunday start....

Hey everyone,

Finally! Today I was prescribed Yasmin and my doctor suggested a Sunday start. My question....I have my period right now. My last day of my period will be tomorrow. Do I have to wait until Sunday to start taking it or is that just an arbitrary day that doctors recommend so that you know which day of the week a new pack starts on?

I'd like to start taking it as soon as possible so that I can start seeing some results. I have extremely oily skin, acne, hair loss and the occasional weird hair on my chin. I've been waiting so patiently for the appointment and the prescription and it's driving me crazy! I want to start now. I ask this question because I have never been on BCP's before and I was just wondering if it really matters whichday I start. I'm not concerned about it's effectiveness as a contraceptive (just broke up with boyfriend two months ago so that really isn't a concern right now) so I just want to have it for the possible symptom relief.

Do you think I could pop my first pill tonight before bed?

Thanks,

JenJen

I know my doctor liked you to start on sunday since that was the day the pill pack started on. Plus I think it helped him know day wise what you are on. I know a lot of woman start on different days, but then I also know a lot who are sunday starters. It is up to you, but I think you should listen to your doc.

Default You can start any day...

...as long as you are within a week of your period (so you know you are not pregnant). In fact, my Yasmin pack comes with labels to stick on the pill card that let you choose your start date. So I don't think it should be a problem. Read the patient leaflet in the box with the pills.
