Default BBC "Diet Trials" programme

Anyone planning to watch this programme they are going to be showing on the Beeb about four different diets and how well (or if) they work? Slimfast, Atkins, Rosemary Conley and Weight Watchers. Could be interesting. I for one will definately be watching.

First programme March 16th at 6pm BBC1 and then every weekday at 7pm.

Yes I shall definately be watching!

There was a similar programme on not long ago where they had celebrities testing out diets. One was the Atkins and before going on it the tester in question and the narrater were saying how unhealthy a diet it is and how it doesn't work etc. etc. and after trying it for 28 days he lost a phenomenal amount of weight!!!!!!

Yes I think I saw that (or something very similar) it was on ITV and one was that bloke who used to present Rogue Traders. They both lost a huge amount of weight it's true, but neither were convinced that it was very healthy and they were both saying how ill and awful they felt the whole time they were on it.

Wink

I saw it!

Apparently there are over three hundred people taking part over six months

they take blood pressure, body fat measurements etc and check on kidney function

One large Doctor is on Dr Atkins, one large truck driver is on the slim fast plan (poor poor man) a couple are on WW, one woman on Rosemary Conley and another woman taking part, heck I can't even remember what diet she was on because it was too embarrassing to watch her scenes

Ok now I have a dog but!!!!! She was lying on the floor cuddling him, and lighting candles for him and playing "Somewhere over the rainbow". Okay, poor thing has cancer. But it was supposed to be a diet programme not about the questionable relationship between a single girl and her alsation!

Oops! Dog lovers, please don't shout at me

lol! I caught it tonight (remembered!!). She was on it then - taking the dog for acupuncture. Poor woman. We have two cats and I know I'd be devastated if they were ill. Sultana had to have emergency caesarian and hysterectomy last year (the other cat is one of her daughters from that litter - her one and only litter) and that was horrible. Very distressing. But yes, I agree, lighting candles and playing music at them is going a little far...! lol

I'm looking forward to when they are getting near the end or reach it and then they can look back and do comparisons with them all as to which have worked best for most people. I have a lot of respect for Rosemart Conley (who should know a thing or two since she's been in the buisness for so long) and Weight Watchers (for similar reasons). I am deeply suspicious of Atkins. I mean, I know it works, but I'm not convinced it's good for you long term. I'll be very interested to see what they say about them all at the end.
