Hi - Does anyone know how to track your thyroid function using basal body temperature? As in, what is a normal temp and how and when to take it.

I am considering trying to reduce my thyroid meds and don't want to rely completely on blood tests to keep track. I am currently on dessicated thyroid - 50 mgs/day.

Hi Twinkerbell,
Okay, this is what I have read,
97.8 to 98.2 is the normal average BBT for a working thyroid. You need to take your temp over a month and take the average. Lower than this suggest underactive thyroid. You need to take your temp on waking in the morning.
