If you have questions or need advice on charting BBT, you are in the right place.

Basic guide to charting your basal body temperature.
Charting your BBTs is really pretty easy. Basically, what you are doing is taking your temperature first thing each day and plotting the temperature on a chart or FF. What you are looking for is to see a shift after ovulation making your chart biphasic (showing low temperatures before ovulation in the follicular phase, and higher ones after ovulation in the luteal phase).

- Take your temperature first thing in the morning before you get out of bed or even speak -- leave your thermometer at your bedside within easy reach so you don’t have to move much to get it. If you use a glass thermometer, make sure you shake it down before going to bed.

- Try to take the temperature at as close to the same time each day as possible -- set an alarm if you need to. Staying within a half hour either side of your average time is a good idea because your temp can vary with the time (i.e., if you usually take your temperature at 6 a.m., it is OK to take your BBT between 5:30-6:30, but the closer to 6 the better).

- It is best to take your BBT after a minimum of 5 hours sleep, and at least 3 in a row is preferable.

- You can take your temperature orally, vaginally, or rectally -- just stay with the same method for the entire cycle.

- You should try to place the thermometer the same way each day (same location of your mouth, same depth vaginally and rectally).

- Plot your temperature on your chart each day, but refrain from reading too much into it until the cycle is done.

Some women, not all, have a temperature drop when they ovulate. If you see this drop, it is a good idea to start BD'ing in case you are ovulating.
What you are looking for is a temperature shift over a 48-hour period to indicate ovulation.

Mary, Its possible! Like you said though, the next several days will tell more though.

AFM, I haven't been temping because I was planning to temp vaginally this cycle. I even bought a new bbt thermometer. I tested it out with my old thermometer last night though and realized that I would never hear the damn thing beep and don't feel like falling asleep with a thermometer in my you know what!

So I temped normally this morning... I hope my temps aren't as erratic this cycle!

Geek- LOL- We're so alike. I get so sad when people on here get BFN's and I think people get more upset than I do when I get a BFN because I personally expected it, KWIM? LMAO @ your comment about falling asleep!!!

Haley- WOOHOOO!!!! I'll stalk you... dun dun dun!!! LOL

Crystal- I agree with Geek. You definitely want a baby, but only you know what kind of emotional state you're in. Can you deal with another BFN if it happens? What are your chances? Does your insurance cover it? Would you just do one and give up? KWIM?

AFM- my temp shot up 1/2 degree today... I'm hoping to god that it means I O'd yesterday or today because we BD'd twice yesterday and will again tonight even though we have the kids (shhhhhhhhh!!) lol. TMI? Sorry!

Thanks for all the love ladies.... I am definitely feeling much better but two weeks is a long time to be sick. I am ready to get out and have some fun!!!

BTW, I have a feeling that we are going to get SEVERAL BFP's this month!!!

Same O boat, yes...but I won't have a BFP this month and you WILL!!! (thinking positive). There's too much coming up in the next couple of months and we're worried it would be too dangerous for me and/or lil bean to be preggers. I'm just hoping for a pretty chart and continued O so that when DH is better and stresses are gone, we'll be able to get our BFP right away!!

I wanted to say this wonderful news......Life is amazing my brother is in town. and to be honest.....He told me this wonderful advice...."God knows you wanted bad enough don't give up" So I am gonna chart and then go get Pre_Seed.......so We will see how it would turn out for me and my husband.....

Right now we are waiting on DH ex-wife to respond to our request to set up visitations with his two sons.. He dad is pretty upset about not being able to see them; and is scared that I'll cheat and run off with our kids like she did...
