Default Question about when to take BBT

I'm very new to the whole BBT thing and have a question. This morning was my first day taking my temp. I normally set my alarm for 6:15am but this morning I woke up at about 5:30am and had to use the bathroom. I went back to bed and dozed off and on until my alarm went off at 6:15, which is when I took my temp. My question is: should I have taken my temp when I woke up at 5:30? Does it matter that I was sort of awake for 45 minutes before taking my temp?

Personally, I would have just taken my temp at 5:30. I think it does matter...I think you're supposed to have a minimum of 2 consecutive hours of sleep before temping (I've heard as many as 4 consecutive hours, though). But.....I could be wrong (it's been known to happen), so hopefully someone with more knowledge about temping will be able to help.

Molly - I plug my numbers into a site that adjusts it for me, helps alot. WhenMyBaby.com has a BBT adjuster.

Emma - Sorry to hear about the BFN. Hugs.

I am DPO 16 and got a BFN too, this morning.

Emma~Is it possible that maybe you didn't ovulate until CD57? I am just looking at your temps and how, on the day it says you may have ovulated (the dashed line indicates conflicting info), your temp was really low. I did spike the next day, but then went really low again. On CD57, your temp was higher than the rest and they have been that way pretty much since...just an idea....someone with more experience back me up on this (or blow my theory into smitherines).

(((hugs))) as you deal with this frustration.

Emma - I know your frustration, my chart looks great, no AF, no BFP... it's like what is going on, and I am at DPO 17.... with the FF dotted line...

To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

when i started charting i was following this website:

To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

have a look there, i know it's in celcious but still you can see what different charts looks like. Just checked my chart, i didn't have such a big jumps between my daily temps and in the second half of cycle it was just steadily climbing up until it got up to 37C and just stayed there until i stoped temping
Please DON'T give up!

Sissy - OH MAN! I hope that's not what happened. CD 57?! My cycles could be getting longer? And we assumed the window was closed by then because my last two cycles have had such a clear O pattern... so I gave DH a break.

faith - keep us posted. I'll be anxious to see what happens with you.

**************************************

My doctor says he won't help us until we've "tried" for a year. Which is fine... we're young and healthy... blah blah blah... but every other woman's "year" is 12 cycles or chances. We have to wait two months for each chance at this. That's only six opportunities a year. I know I'm over-thinking this, but...

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE, OVARIES!

faith4miracle ~ i was taking Vitex 400mg x 3 times a day and Evening Primrose x 3 every morning. I didn't stop taking any of them simply because it was my first month charting and i wasn't sure when O happened + it doesn't say anything about stopping on the bottle.

Hi Emma ~ i know that it's hard not to think about it ALL the time
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

you are not the only one who ovulates every 2 months, my doc told me that last year i only ovulated 3-4 times if even that, i was sooooo sad, didn't know WHAT to think. They made us wait for a year as well, i found out later that they could've done more specific test and just put 2 & 2 together BUT they didn't, double sad because i trusted docs opinions.
One way or enother you'll get your BFP
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
main thing to keep pushing your worries through to the docs, they might not care as much as you do but don't give up, try a different doc maybe... and age got nothing to do with it, when you ready to have little bubs you ready and that's it, you just want it right there right now
