How can we possibly be the only ones from the Vancouver area?!!
It's a big city...there's got to be more!

I'm 25, and working on a B.Sc. at UBC. Not working right now, but hopefully once the summer semester's over. (gotta take a math class....ugh!) I'm not married, but I am seeing someone.

Hi there!
I haven't been diagnosed yet but am pretty sure I have PCOS. My jaw was dropping as I read everyone's stories, I never realized anyone else felt this way too. I'm waiting for blood tests, my DR gave my a lab requisition for hrmone tests but didn't say anything about needing to be tested on CD3. Twit. I'm not really impressed with her(just lose weight It's easy!!) Does anyone have a good Dr?
By the way I'm in Whistler,BC, home of mountains with no snow.
Personally, I think my doctor is excellent. After about 5 years of trying to get somewhere with my depression, I started seeing him and within 6 months I was miles ahead of where I was. He does Vega (aka electrodiagnostic) testing, which isn't covered by your provincial coverage. I think it's the best money I ever spent, though. He tries to use as few meds as possible, and will listen to any questions or concerns. I think he's great.
His name is Dr. G. Ryder. His office is near MacDonald and 16th. His phone # is: 604 737 7776
Oh, and when I sent him my medical history I totally forgot to mention that I'd been dx'd with PCOS (duh!) and when he called to talk to me he actually mentioned it and asked if I'd heard of it. So...he's familiar with PCOS.
Dr. Tregoning in Abbotsford is my doctor. He seems to be quite good, although so in demand that it is a little hard to get in. I don't think Whistler to Abby is a good drive, though, so maybe the Vancouver one is at least an hour closer .
Hopeless, can I hear more about your Vega stuff and light therapy stuff?
I started seeing Dr. Ryder in January of 2004. He tested all the meds that I was taking at the time. I ended up staying on 2 of them, and changing my BCPs. (I was taking other homeopathic remedies also, but he took me off them) He's an MD, so he can prescribe traditional meds, but he also uses homeopathics and supplements. During the last year, he's helped me get my depression under control and my hair has also started growing back (slowly though!)
Light therapy...well, over the last few years I've noticed that I get a generally depressed feeling during the winter months. When it happened this year, I went to see Dr. Ryder but I didn't test for any medication changes and he agreed that light therapy would probably help me. I got a goLITE (they sell them at Costco now). I use it 20-30 minutes each day, in the morning. It's definetly helped. I don't have that down for no reason feeling anymore, and it's easier for me to wake up in the morning. I'm definetly glad I gave it a shot.
Feel free to ask more questions....I'm not really sure what type of info you're looking for...

Hi I live in the Vancouver area as well. I am 26 , married almost 4 years, and wanting to TTC. Tried clomid once last year, stopped b/c financial reasons and my husband and I want to start again in a couple months. I have 0 periods on my own. Currently take 1500 met, paxil (depression) and zestril (blood pressure). Take progesterine every 3 months to induce periods. NOt sure what my chances of conception are.
