my husband has noticed im a little "fragile" since being on bc pills - im moody - emotional sometimes up and down - get reallyyyyy depressed - really down on myself ... not sounding cocky but im an alright lookin gal (with sum chubbies lol) but i can really hate what im lookin at in the mirror when my moods and depression kick in... my cousin recently stopped bc pills and said she didnt realize that all her moods and depression were being caused by her pills until she stopped them
my husband suspects the pills are making me wack :S
do they really mess with u?
Absolutely!! I was an emotional WRECK on bcp's, and finally had to come off of them after a few months because the depression was getting progressively worse.
Within a week of coming off the pill, I felt like my old self again.

Ditto what Kat said. However, not all the pills cause you to have those problems in the same way. Some just made me feel "underwater", almost anti-moody, others were fine in the beginning and it took months for the emotional side effects to kick in, and for some (for me, Yasmin), the horrible effect was immediate and severe.
Even now in the midst of pregnancy with hormones running all over the place and some less-than-wonderful things going on in my life, I'm nowhere near as bad as I was on a regular day on Yasmin. For me, it was a totally different kind of down.

i felt kinda depressed & emotional on ortho tri-whatever it's called. my doctor switched me to a different pill and that seems to help. nortrel? it wouldn't hurt to try a different one. or a different form of birth control altogether. i was also very moody & depressed when i was first dx with pcos and my hormones were out of control--and i wasn't taking any meds or bcps, nor was i exercising, like ever! i feel 1000x better now that i've lost weight and gotten my hormones back in "normal range". so it might be the pills, might not. it could be part of the pcos problems you're having. i guess you won't know until you go off the pill.

I was pretty emotional for the first two or three months on BCP, while I got used to them, but then it settled down; I've been on them for years now and feel fine. But I agree, if you've been on them a couple of months and still feel bad, try a different type.
ive been taking them for over a year
and ive gained weight.. i think thats whats really making me depressed - not fitting into my old clothes, not as confident as before...
that also makes me b*tchy so i dunno
i need the pills for my well being really - not for avoiding pregnancy
i wish there was something that would give me all the benefits of the pill without the woes
until then my sweet-self will be popping those darn teeny magical pills
I have this problem with all combination pills plus the Ring. Unfortunately. I am giving the minipill Cerazette a shot and failing that it's back to copper IUD & spiro to control PCOS I guess.
