finding a GP out here is quite hard... What i would sugest is finding a walk in clinic you like and start using them, and see if any of there doctors would take you on as a paitent?
I started seeing a doctor like that out here in Aldergrove, and was going to have him take me on, but he wouldent take my kids on as well, so what was the point? I still have my old family doctor way out in burnaby who will take all my kids on, so we see him... he is super busy (usualy 30min to 1hour 30 min late) but he takes his time! He saw the whole family yesterday (all 4 of us) and took his time... He also likes to train his students who are doing practicums from UBC on us!
Good luck trying to find a GP!

I wish I knew about this site years ago. I am Jenny from Victoria. 28 years old. I found out about 5 years ago that I had PCOS. I have been feeling like there was no chance I would ever be a mother but from reading all of your posts I feel like there is a lot more hope than what I have been given.
A question for anyone who may have taken birth control and decided to come off of it... How long did it take before your cycle? Did weird things start happening with your body?I stopped taking the pill about 2 months ago but I have not had my cycle and have been craving milk (which I have never liked) and have been peeing at night like crazy... usually for about 10 times in an hour before I can fall asleep amoung other things that have never happened. I have come across some sites that say these things can be signs of diabeties but I have been tested recently and I am fine.
Also, I see that many of you have conceived after taking metformin. Did your doctor have you wait a year before taking it? I have tried to conceive in the past and then ended up giving up and going back on the pill to regulate... now that I have come off the pill my doctor wants me to try for a year before seeing a specialist. I feel like that is too long because I have already been waiting too many years.
Please message me if you have experienced anything above.
Hi Jenny Welcome...I am pretty new myself..having come on and off for a year, I think.
I am April, and I am 33 years old!! I am married, almost 2 years. We aren't "officially" TTC, but we are starting down that path. I was on the BCP on and off for about 12 years. Each time I tried to go off, i had horrible periods...anyway...I started on MF in Jan, (I think..lol), and i go btwn 500-1000mg. I am overweight, so I struggle w/ that as well. I also have hiatus hernia, to add to the mix. I am walking a bit more, so I hope that helps, and I don't seem to be gaining weight, so yay!!
I am having good periods...I hope they are true ones...i am having cramps, and the DR says that is a "real" period if you have cramps, etc. I am not sure if I am ovulating yet..I don't think so...he has taken some tests, and they show my levels are low. Blah! I just finished my last period, and it was for 3 days, only!! (well, i guess four). I would love to get to know you all more...I am horrible, and I need to do some more research..but I seem to get too confused if I do alot...plus come on here...so I tend to stay away..but I do need the support of fellow PCOS cysters. Anyway..enough blabbing for now. Please contact me, if you can/want to.
hey all!
so happy to find local cysters! i have recently lost my best friends due to stupid reasons and so its nice to know there is support close by here for me to access.
i live in new west, just outside of vancouver and i work downtown.
going through kinda transitional phase in my life trying to get my health and social issues sorted out.
i would really like to have some coffee friends or something to meet with who understand and can talk to and vent to about stuff, is anyone game? let me know.
glad to see you all!
heather
Just to let all of you know that we do have a meet-up group for Greater Vancouver women with PCOS. We have only had a couple of meet-ups so far but we are hoping to arrange more of them soon. Its a great way to meet other women in the community that can relate to what we are going through. Feel free to join!
thanx misty! i will definately be checking it out, ive been feeling a little down and out so i will look forward to getting to meet some of you face to face. its nice to use the forums and such, but nothing beats being in person while your chatting.
hope to talk to you soon!
Misty- here is the website for the vancouvet twins club... they are AWSOME! you have to pay a yearly fee but its WORTH IT! http://www.vancouvertwins.ca/

Hello ladies. I was referred to this community by a woman at my work, I don't know her user name. I work in New West and live in Surrey. My doctor is in Ridge. I was only diagnosed about 3 weeks ago but that is after a life time, or so it feels, of having my symptoms under played by other doctors. What do you know, the cysts and hormones say otherwise. Ha. PCOS feels a little surreal to me because I do not have facial hair or insulin resistance. I do have cysts, and they are giving me hell. Since my diagnosis Yasmin has lightened the minor amount of hair I have on my stomach, but it may also have grown my cysts. I'm being rushed to a gyno to see what to do to/ with my ovaries. It's funny how fast things are moving after not moving at all for so long.
