Hi there. . . I'm from Quesnel. I'm headed to Genesis clinic in November for our first appointment. Anyone out there have anything to share about their experience there. I'm feeling excited to get the ball rolling, but nervous of what to expect. My ob/gyn expects that they'll recommend ICSI.

waiting- i highly recomend staying away from Genesis. they ended up disposing of embroys of a family i was nannying for becouse the mail was slow and they dident get the letter that there renewal was due..... i have also heard things about them only taking easy clients and turning down anyone who does not have a perfect BMI.... I highly recomend the UBC Fertility clinic...

I haven't been on the forum in ages, so wanted to drop in and say hello. How's everyone doing? Hope you'll check in and update on your status.
We have put TTC on hold for the unforeseen future. I'm focusing on getting healthy, and trying to lose weight. I have lost 18 lbs so far with another 132 to go. We're doing an intense 8 month cleanse, and I really hope that by the time spring rolls around we'll be pregnant.

I am currently in Richmond but have both my GP and fertility doc in Vancouver. I have seen Dr. Hitkari at Genesis and he was awesome...he is the most down to earth, kind doc I have ever met. I was however, told that I would need to lose weight before they could help me with the IVF. We did 4 cycles of clomid that didn't work, so that was the next step according to him. I just happen to read the post about Genesis and them not taking patients without a perfect BMI and it kinda hit me that perhaps that is what was happening with me. I was told I was right on the cusp...I figured it wouldn't be too hard to lose the 20lbs he asked me to, but it's been really hard this time. Metformin did nothing for me as far as skin, hair or weight.
Just wondering for those of you who went the IVF way at other clinics, did you have to meet a certain BMI?
Thanks ladies!

But I don't have the time right now to scroll back to re-read all the posts on this thread.
I was looking for something else and stumbled upon a support group for the GVA online at Meetup.com.
If this has already been posted, my apologies. If not, then enjoy.

I had posted about it a while back ago. We have been running the group for about a year now but havent been able to host too many meetups due to everyones busy schedules. Hopefully there will be a lot more in the future :-)

Hi
My name is Janine and I'm in NE BC - Fort St John to exact. Think I've finally found a doctor that has an idea as I've basically had problems since I was 15. I've had a pretty good idea that PCOS was the problem since I was fairly young, but never had a doctor confirm it. I have a doctor appointment again in the middle of the month to discuss my last blood tests and to see if the round of Provera worked. Anyone else up north?

Hi..I haven't been on here since August..I am going to try to start coming here more..been spending much too much time on Facebook I have found some great boards there, though, on PCOS. I need to do some more research, re my PCOS, as my GYNE really has no clue. I am trying to lose weight, and I hope to get pg soon. I would love to meet any Christian Cysters who live in BC
Hi everyone....I haven't been on here in ages, since August. I have been spending much too much time on Facebook, but I have found some great PCOS boards, which have been great. I hope to start spending more time here, as I need to do more research for PCOS, and my head hair loss. I am trying to lose some weight, in hopes of getting pg. I would love to meet any Christian Cysters from BC...Feel free to PM me if you'd like

My name is Jaime. I live in Surrey, 24 years old recently diagnosed with PCOS but have had symptoms undiagnosed since I was a teen.
I do not have IR and am on the thin side.
Separated from my ex-husband since June. I was TTC for 2 years with my ex-husband with periods ranging between 2 in a row to 8 months between.
Gyno started me on Yaz to control my hormones because I am single now and no longer TTC. I have had a bit of adjusting to the new BC pill but am hopeful that it will help prevent problems down the road when I try TTC. I have been guaranteed to be put on Clomid almost right away when I TTC in the future.
I am afraid sometimes that I don't have much to offer in a relationship because of the PCOS and possible infertility along with having been previously married. My ex didn't help me with my self-esteem either and it's a bit scary. I am afraid to tell any future relationships about the PCOS because I don't want to scare them (most men want to have their genes passed on right?) Not to mention the emotions that I know go along with being unable to concieve, I remember well from trying before.
I am doing pretty well, focusing on getting my career/life together and sorting out the divorce technicalities. I feel pretty positive most days but sometimes it feels so hard...
Thanks for listening/reading my story.
Jaime
