Default BCP, after several months stops regulating your period . . . anyone else?

It seems I have to constantly switch from one BCP to another because, after about 6 months on one kind, my cycles get all wacky again . . . spotting for a week while taking the active pills then no period the week I should get it. This goes on for a month or so and then . . *poof* no period at all again.

Anyone else have/had this problem? Did you ever find a BCP that doesn't "wear off"?
