Default Is it the bcp that caused this??? im having an operation

Hi cysters,

Im really very confused and need your advise...
Now yesterday i visited my gyno (who is supposed to be the best one i found and can trust). I woz expecting to plan some ovulation induction with him but instead i woz shocked. He had put me on gynera bcps for the past 21 days to lower my androgens, and then i shud visit him on the 2nd day of my af. Well what happened is this: i started spotting in the last week of the pills, and i got an af 2 days even before i completed them. So when he scanned me, he found a large cyst covering my ovaries. He said its "a simple cyst". Now im scheduled tomorrow, he will do a suction.
I don't know why this happened? cud it be the bcps? ive been crying all night from the shock..I don't know if anyone out there cud relate to my story?

BCP's usually prevent cysts -- i'm not sure what happened in this case or why the doc is removing it surgically (as i understood most of these go away on their own) but i'm sure he has some reason for it. instead of crying, you should really call and ask to have the doctor call you when he has a moment, so you can express some of your concerns and get some more information. i really don't think you have to worry so much but i know that sometimes it's overwhelming when you have lots of questions -- so i say try and talk to him more about it

Thanks for your reply kpants.
I did actually ask my doctor the same Q, but i woz just double checking if the bcps cud be the reason. Your answer re assured me, and u r right, i shudn't cry about it. I know very well that its not such a big deal, but the problem is the dissapointment. I had something else on my mind when i woz going to the doctor this time, and im really running out of patience. I have been very patient and careful before about not being a lab mouse. All this past year i consider myself to be just searching for the right gyno. When i felt that i finally found him, i needed to start some action by trying the ovulation induction, which i hope to do very soon. Now i can't wait to get this over with without any more complications, so i cud go onto the next step.

I had the same thing happen, the cyst on my right ovary was the size of a golf ball. I had it removed, and it wasn't a big deal. I was so scared, but really, the recovery was easy, I wasn't very sore at all. A few days after the surgery I was fine. Good luck, and don't panic!

Default I did it...

Thank u kpants and syderial for your support, it did feel more optimistic bfore the operation. As u said, i didn't feel anything during (ofcourse i woz unconcious) or after. I have no idea if it woz an existing cyst that grew, or if its a new one. But i did see it as a huge ballon covering both my ovaries. Now im waiting for the real AF to arrive so i can start the ovulation induction therapy. Good luck to u too on your journies!
