Default BCP Confusion

Hi, all,

I've been on NeCon 1/35 for several years now; in this past year though, I've noticed that my flow tends to be non-existent come period time. This month for example, I barely had a tiny bit of discharge (I would argue not even a teaspoon). Is this normal? Whenever it happens I automatically assume I could be pregnant (whether I am active or not because I'm crazy), even though if I am active, I take more precautions than just a pill. Buying tests just to ensure that I'm not is not really healthy on the wallet, but then I get paranoid otherwise.

I'm just wondering if others have had this experience with BCPs - hormones but then lack of period - isn't the point of being put on a BCP so that you can regulate? I know that's why i inititally went on one...but it seems like, what's the point if it isn't really giving me anything.

Should I consult my doctor? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Seriously frustrated,
Jess*ca

BCPs thin the lining of the uterus, so I guess a very light flow could be normal after years of taking them. Is that why doctor's sometimes ask women to take a break from BCPs for a few months? I would ask your doctor about it next visit if it's not too may months away, otherwise call. When things change from the norm, it is always a good idea to mention it to your doctor.

I have been on Yaz for three months, and my last flow was just spotting for just a couple of days. Yaz is supposed to make your period shorter and lighter, and I was ecstatic, because I get 7 - 8 day cycles and horrible cramps when not on BCP.
