BCP and Hair Growing Back...

Did anyone experience this? I went off Alesse in May of 2003 and my hair began seriously thinning...now its just awful. I was wondering if anyone had their hair grow back by going on BCPs...any information would be fabulous...thanks

I experienced the same thing just after a 2 week trial of diane-35. Hair loss hasn't stopped yet and i gave diane35 a try last august. I was on alesse and went back on it. Though the hair loss is sill going on (thinking spiro could have an effect on it but i can't get off it cause last time i tried i was hitting depression.. went back on it, all was fine.. figure that one out)

I haven't heard much about BCPs helping with scalp hairgrowth. But i guess its trial an error. Since Diane 35 fiasco, i haven't really dared to try new medications. I'm moving towards supplements - low carbing is another alternative. Though i have reduced my carb intake... hold habits are creaping back. lol its a vicious cycle.

Hi,

I started taking Diane 35 (I actually take the generic version Brenda 35) about 18 months ago. Before I went on the pill my hair was falling out in handfulls and I had bald patches on both temples (very obvious).

Now I have new growth on both temples and my hair is no longer falling out, it is in fact getting thicker (I can feel it).

Please note that these improvements in hair loss didn't start to happen until I had taken the pill for about 12 months. I persisted with it in the hope that improvements would happen. My skin is clear (and nowhere near as oily as it used to be), my excess hair problems have eased (not gone but better) and of course I now have a monthly cycle!
