I have pcos....My gyn told me that I should take birth controll pills for 2 months and then get pregnant, she says that is a good way, because ovaries rest for 2 months and then produce good ovulation....has anyone had this expirience or heard about that.
Thanks
I've heard of this being done. I am pretty sure this has happened to me, too. When I went off of the pill a year ago, I had a few normal periods (I assume I o'd) before my period became whacked out again.

How come I'm sooo confused over this? I keep hearing that when you're on a BCP that you don't ovulate and then I hear that you do.......which is it????
The months you take the bcp, you do not ovulate. There is some speculation that you may be more likely to ovulate the first month OFF the bcp. That is, there seems to be a "kick start" effect.
Hope this makes sense!

That's how I was able to conceive - I got pg my first month off of a 3-month BCP rest cycle. The only other thing I was taking was 1500mg of Met.
A little background..
I was on BCPs for ten years, and when we decided that we were ready to TTC I went off the pill for three months before trying. BIG MISTAKE. My cycles got longer and longer (I didn't know that I had PCOS at this point) and I wasn't sure that I was ovulating. After my PCOS diagnosis, I went on Met 1500mg and BCPs (Ortho Tri Cyclen) for three months and conceived the month I went off them. I *did* have a long cycle (44 days) but we were successful. I am now 14 weeks.
Good luck!

I have heard of it , for a matter of fact I just tried it , and Im now in my 2ww 2monts of bcp and now this cycle nothing at all , I think I did O!!!!!!!!!!1
OK, so since I'm on the pill, I do not ovulate? So it would be almost impossible for me to get pregnant if I'm taking the pill perfectly right?
So the bottom line is, you need to ovulate, in order to get pregnant......so if someone misses pills, they're more suseptable to ovulating and therefore can get pregnant?
I hope this made sense! lol

ok but what if you start a whole new pill altogether? Can you get pregnant on the first one because your body is adjusting to it? What about the second pill pack....or will your body be ok by then?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to learn more about the pill....so I can stop worrying so much! ahhhhhhhhhhhgggghh..lol

I hate to throw a stick in the wheel but I have another theory to throw in there about ovulating while on the pill. My doc says that yes you continue to ovulate while on the pill, but and here's the kicker......the pill actually gives you too much of a hormone which tricks your uterus into rejecting any fertilized egg. Basically the uterus says oops sorry no room in the inn and sheds the lining, not allowing the egg to attached and sprout. I don't know if this is true or not but I too have heard it both ways. I refused to take the pill and instead opted for femhrt. It has the same ingredients of the BCP but without the control. She said it was unusual to give to a woman in her childbearing years because of the risks of pregnancy. I told her duh...I'll take that risk. I actually did have bleeding after two weeks of the pill, after not cycling for almost two months. Every time that I go off the pill I immediately go nuts again.
Well that's my two cents......
