Anyone have high blood pressure and on BCP? My gyn prescribed the BCP and didn't say anything about them being bad if you have high BP. I am on medication for my BP and I went to my pcp for a check-up and she was surprised that they gave me the BCP. She said there is a higher risk of blood clots, stroke and heart attack....Now I'm worried about taking them. I am going to call the gyn office but wondering if anyone is in the same situation.

I've notice my blood pressure has raised quite a bit since starting my birth control pills in April. The appointment before going on birth control pills, my blood pressure was normal...about 120/64. On Friday, I saw my doctor again and my blood pressure was 143/110! I was shocked and couldn't believe it! My doctor didn't seem concerned...but at the same time she asked me to watch it for the next couple of weeks. I'm actually kinda scared because I don't believe my blood pressure has ever been that high. I usually do have high blood pressure...but not as high as my results on Friday. If you do go on birth control, I would suggest you keep an eye on it. Also, ask you doctor about your concerns. It never hurts to tell them. =)
