Default BCP and Hot flashes?

Here is a little background....I haven't offically been diagnosed with PCOS. I saw my doctor last week about the possibility and she thinks its a high possibility that I do infact have PCOS. We are going to wait to do testing until my insurange kicks in (sometime early May). She started me off on Yaz to help regulate my cycle (I was only having two periods a year).

I started last Sunday and since then, I've noticed an increase in hot flashes. I've had hot flashes before taking BCPs but not everyday. Last night, while I was going to sleep, I had two fans on blowing on me and it didn't help any. I was extremely hot! I didn't find any relief until I went outside this morning in the 54 degree air and chilling winds. I didn't even bother wearing a sweater because it felt so good!

Has anyone had this while taking BCPs or Yaz? Could it just be my body getting used to the BCPs? Or am I just losing my mind?

I had them while taking Diane. It also raised my bp as well, so you might want to check that. I switched to Yasmin last week, and so far so good. No more hot flashes, sweats, or high bp.

I'm so glad I'm not going crazy! Hopefully it evens out in the next couple of days. Maybe its just my body getting used to BCPs. Thanks for bringing up BP, I didn't even think about how it might be. I'll have to watch my BP to make sure its not too out of control.

I know what you mean Kayla! I'm 21 too so I was like "there is no way I should be having hot flashes this bad! I'm too young!" Atleast we know we aren't crazy

I had HORRIBLE hot flashes that only grew worse and worse when i was on Demulen. I finally had to come off of them. Between the moodiness, weight gain, and hot flashes, I was going mad...

Hi,

I have been on Yasmin for about 4 years. The first three months on Yasmin I experienced hot flashes then they disappeared thankfully.

Hi,

It is normal and should settle down in a few weeks. It is your body getting used to the oestrogen that you're taking. If it becomes a problem, you could try taking your pill at night so you miss the "surge".

Best wishes x
