Default On BCP and no AF

I've been on Demulen bcp for about six months, and my GP recently switched me to Cyclen, which I haven't started yet (not till Sunday).

Any bcp that I'm on seems to leave me with the same problem: I start the new bcp, and for the first two months, AF comes along at the right time, no problem. Then, AF gradually tapers off until I'm not getting any AF at all.

I have all the symptoms of a normal AF: cramping, low back pain, PMS, the whole thing. Just...no period.

Whenever I start a new bcp, the whole scenario starts all over again: first couple of periods on the pill are a normal AF, then it gradually peters out till there's nothing.

When I wasn't on the bcp, my periods came along every 28 days, like clockwork. I started taking bcp at 19, when I was diagnosed with endometriosis, and have been on it ever since except for a couple years when I tried those awful sponge things that they've since taken off the market.

What the frilly heck is going on? No matter what bcp I'm prescribed, the exact same thing happens. I also have INcredible mood swings and stuff on bcp. Does this happen to anyone else?

Unhappy Man Oh Man U Sound Like Me!

I stopped having AF while on Cyclen (try 2 yrs) and docs told me it was just stress. Then they switched me to Demulen, now I have full AF (after a few months of spotting) but comes on the active pill days. I don't have an answer, no one ever gave me one, but I want you to know that other people are having the problem too. I'd like an answer as well!

Default Thanks, SnowBunny!

It's good to know it's not just me...it's very weird. I don't know what's up with my hormones these days - the fluctuations are bad enough. I feel like Screaming Crazy Woman or Weeping Basket Case...LOL And the lack of AF is just crazy-making...

I stopped having periods for a while while on bcps. I had been taking dianette for 4 years and then stopped having periods, I started having really bad mood swings and constant "period pain", I went to the Dr and she just said "It's just your hormones" which w3asn't a great help, since then I started Metformin and my periods have resumed.

Charly, that's exactly what happens to me!!! Mood swings, no periods - my doctor said I didn't 'need' Metformin, although I'm thinking I might press the point the next time I see him. You could be describing my symptoms exactly. It's so very odd, the way this happens - because I'd heard people say that bcps make them have regular periods - not me!
