Default BCP with only 4 cycles?

I was finally dx with PCOS in '99, God blessed us with 2 kids later and am currently on the Depo shot. I feel like I am hungry more often than I should be and know that the PCOS combined with the Depo shot are causing me to gain more weight than I should. I want to lose weight and am looking for any advice on the possibility of changing Birth Control Methods as well. I love not having periods so thought about the new BCP where you only have 4 periods - does this work well for PCOS? Weight Gain?

Anyone tried this?

I used to be on Seasonale, if that's the one you're talking about. Also the generic, Jolessa.

I personally liked it. I have really heavy, miserable periods so that's why I switched...if I have be miserable, I might as well just be miserable less often! I found it worked better than just doubling up on monthly packs (that gave me BTB).

Be warned though - if you're taking Seasonale it can be expensive. Even with insurance, since you're paying for 3x the usual amount of pills, it can be about $100 (mine was $140). Jolessa is about $30.

I take a triphasic bcp(Cyclessa). I skip my inactive week every other pack, having 6 periods per year. Doing well with that so far, and my doc thought that would be better for me than switching pills, since I tend to have problems with others.

I did HORRIBLE on Depo, and so have most other women I have talked to. Then sooner you get off that, the better. Good luck. Hope you find what works for you.
